JCCC rebounds against Hesston OVERLAND PARK, KS – The Cavaliers snapped a three game road losing skid with a very good 85-65 win over the Larks from Hesston, Kansas. JCCC bolted to a 41-33 half time advantage in handing the Larks the defeat. Johnson County improves to 2-3 and Hesston falls to 3-3. The Cavs were 24-of-32 from the free throw line while Hesston went 14-28. Johnson County out rebounded the Larks 52-38, forced 16 turnovers and held Hesston to 40% from the floor. JCCC was led by 6-5 sophomore Justin Leathers with 28 points and 16 rebounds. 6-9 sophomore Melvin Turner put up career numbers with 20 points, 11 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 blocks. 6-1 Sophomore Quasim Jones pumped in 19 points. 6-3 freshman Christian Hildebrandt contributed 9 points and 12 boards. Hesston, was topped by 6-0 sophomore guard Mahlon Jones with 23 points.
