Family and Adult Summer Programs Family Programs Stories in the Park Sunday, June 2, 10-11 a.m. Ages 2—5 FREE Centennial Park (13050 E. Peakview Ave., Centennial, CO 80112) Join Denver Jewish Day School and JCC South Denver for summer stories in the park. Denver JDS’s Tiger Tales is a free monthly storytelling program for children ages 2-5 and their siblings. Start with stories, and end with splashing in the sprinklers! Children can enjoy a post-story time splash in the fun water play area at Centennial Park. RSVP by Thursday, May 30 to southdenver@jccdenver.org.

Parent-Tot Shabbat Sing Fridays, 10—11:15 a.m., ages four years and younger June 14, 21, 28; July 12, 19; Aug. 2, 9 (Please note: We will meet at Centennial Park on 6/28 and 7/26; Location TBD for 8/2; No class on 7/5. All other classes will be held at JCC South Denver)
$72/eight-week session: $10 drop in/children ages 13 months-4 years $56/eight-week session: $8/drop in/children ages 6-12 months Parents and their children will learn Shabbat traditions and blessings through song, dance, storytelling, braiding/decorating a make-and-take challah, art and food.
Move and Learn Classes Sundays, June 23, 30; July 7, 14, 21, 28 9:30—10:15 a.m. – Mini Tumbling: crawling to 17 months 10:30—11:15 a.m. – Maxi Tumbling: 18—36 months $84/six-week session; $17/drop in Instructor: Staci Zimmerman
Mini Tumbling (crawling to 17 months) This class focuses on gross motor development for children who are in various stages of walking. Crawlers, wobblers, and more confident movers enjoy elements of our tumbling equipment including balance beams, trampolines, tunnels, balls and more. A different movement concept will be featured weekly throughout the session.
Maxi Tumbling (18-36 months) This class is for the older toddler who is a confident mover and shaker and needs some extra room to explore. Cooperative games with children of a similar age are introduced with parental/caregiver support. Kids will engage in parachute play, circle-time with songs and stretching, and practice different movement concepts as they play. All programs and events require advanced registration. Sixth Graders Ice Cream Meet & Greet Sunday, June 30, 4—5 p.m. $2/person Incoming sixth graders and their parents will have an opportunity to meet each other over bowls of ice cream. Fall Holiday Sampler Tuesday, Sept. 10, 5:30—7 p.m. $20/family Feast on spaghetti and salad before the Yom Kippur fast. Adult Programs Jewish Life in Leadville in the Pioneer Days Thursday, May 30, 7:30 p.m. FREE Leadville was once home to a thriving Jewish community that boasted some of the most well-known names in American Jewish history. Bill Korn of the Temple Israel Foundation will describe recent successful efforts to rehabilitate and restore both the Temple in Leadville and the highest Jewish cemetery in the world. He will bring original photographs and artifacts. Refreshments will be provided by Feldman Mortuary and JCC South Denver.
Compassion and Choices Sunday, June 23, 7:30 p.m. FREE The organization, Compassion and Choices, is committed to supporting and advocating for a dying person’s choices at end of life. At the local level, the Colorado Chapter has worked with like-minded organizations to shepherd laws for the benefit of patients and caregivers. A Taste of Melton-Jews in America Sunday, Aug. 4, 7—9 p.m. FREE Get a free taste of this fascinating 10-week Melton course, “Jews in America.” This course provides students with the opportunity to consider the challenges of Jewish acculturation to American life and the sacrifices as well as the contributions that have been made over the past 200 years.
