Soundtown Express: An Event for Teens

Feb. 17—18, 2013 Join MTN and HEA for a mountain excursion! We’ll meet at the Goldberger Youth Center, then head to Keystone Mountain for a day of skiing, snowboarding and snow-tubing as well as a Sunday afternoon broomball game! This is an awesome opportunity for all types of skiers and snowboarders to enjoy a great day on the mountain with friends. If you are not a skier or rider, you can go snow-tubing which is another really fun way to experience the mountain. Attendees will be broken into groups based on ability and experience and then will be free to cruise the mountain with Skinnus staff and supervisors. Sunday afternoon and evening will be spent at the La Quinta Inn in Silverthorne; attendees will experience a wide variety of programming that promotes Israel, Jewish identity, and group bonding. After tearing up the mountain on Monday, we’ll head back to the Goldberger Youth Center for pick-up.

About the movie: Downtown Express Director: David Grubin, USA. 2011, 90 minutes; Language: English Grammy nominated violinist Phillipe Quint plays Sasha, who with his father and his cousin form the Unique Quartet (the fourth member having been just deported to their native Russia), try to find a way to extend their visas rather than return to Russia. Sasha, a Julliard student, is well on his way to the career his father has always imagined for him, a professional classical musician. But, a chance meeting with Ramona (indie music sensation Nellie McKay), and her band Downtown Express, opens his eyes to the contemporary music scene. Now Sasha must forge his own path, negotiating between his father’s Old World aspirations, which have their place in his soul, and the New World opportunities of contemporary music, which work their way into his heart. – Colorado Premiere – Steve Glickman Teens! “Like” us on Facebook for the latest JCC Maccabi Teen Network, news, pics and events!
