About the Robert E. Loup Jewish Community Center Welcome to all! For more than 80 years, the Robert E. Loup Jewish Community Center (JCC) has offered social, recreational and educational programs to the community. The Center and its programs are open to everyone, regardless of religion, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, or ability to pay. No matter your age or interest, there’s something for you at the JCC.

JCC Annual Membership A JCC annual membership will allow you to enroll in JCC and MACC classes at a discounted rate. Please note the lower members rates (average 20% savings) listed under each program. Members receive three seasonal guides plus a weekly electronic newsletter to keep you informed of all JCC and MACC happenings. The membership fees are $60/year for individuals and $100/year for families (three or more people). Senior membership is $30/year for individuals and $60/year for couples. Memberships at the Tennis and Sports & Fitness Centers are available for additional fees. Memberships must be renewed annually and are non-refundable and non-transferable. The amount of your membership fee in excess of $25 is tax deductible ($35 for individuals, $75 for family, $5 for senior individuals and $35 for senior couple).

How to Become a JCC Annual Member An annual membership form can be found at the back of this guide; it can be filled out and faxed, mailed or hand delivered to the JCC. You can also contact the membership office at (303) 316-6308 or register online at www.jccdenver.org, click JCC general info, click membership information and download a membership form.

Sports & Fitness Membership Memberships for the JCC Sports & Fitness Center are available for an additional fee. See page 22 of this guide for more details on Center membership, amenities, hours, programs and classes or you can contact membership at sfmembership@jccdenver.org or (303) 316-6308.

Payment Payment for all programs is due at time of registration. For some programs, payment plans are available (admin fee applies).

Facility Rentals Host your special event at the JCC. Our facility may be the perfect match for your wedding, bar/bat mitzvah ceremony and celebration, birthday party, fundraiser, conference or meeting. Room space is available for events from 10–380 people. Equipment set up and clean up is included in rental. Multi-use, member and non-profit discounts are available. Donating to the JCC Exercise Your Right to Make a Difference. The JCC is dependent on the generosity of our donors to meet our annual budget. Program revenues only cover about 80% of our expenses and the shortfall is addressed though donations from individuals, foundation grants, corporate sponsors and the Federation annual allocation. The JCC and MACC accept gifts all year round. You can direct your giving to a specific program if that is your preference, or you can give a general gift to the JCC and allow the staff to determine where your money will have the largest impact.

Scholarship Assistance In recognition of the needs of individuals and families in our community who wish to participate in our programs but are unable to afford the full fees, the Robert E. Loup Jewish Community Center offers scholarship assistance whenever possible. Each program director can give you more information; please call (303) 399-2660.

• Scholarships for camp and the ECC, enabling low income families to participate • Outreach programs like Shalom Baby and Shalom Family • The Senior Department which meets the critical social and welfare needs of the elderly Our flagship fundraising event is the JCC Annual Dinner (held in early November), which generates support primarily through table sales. Our annual dinner regularly receives acclaim as one of the most enjoyable (and compact) held all year. Lastly, the JCC participates in the Live On program, which allows our supporters and friends to make legacy gifts that are fulfilled through a bequest program. This is one of the most rewarding commitments you can make and requires no cash out of your pocket now.

People with Special Needs and Disabilities The JCC is committed to welcoming people with special needs through its Yad b' Yad (“Hand in Hand”) program, which offers educational, cultural and recreational opportunities available throughout the Center. These opportunities include a lift in the indoor swimming pool and special fitness classes and camp experiences.

Kashrut Policy The JCC is a kosher facility supervised by the TRI Sulom of Denver. Any lunches or snacks brought to the Center by program participants and visitors should be meat free.

Rose & Robyn Loup Child Care Center at the JCC Walking—8 years (303) 316-6301 JCC cost: $5.50/hour/first child; $3.25/hour/additional child (half-hour rate) Guest cost: $6.50/hour/first child; $4/hour/additional child (half-hour rate) Hours: Monday—Friday, 8 a.m.—2 p.m. Sunday, 8 a.m.—noon Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, 5—8 p.m. Take advantage of the highly respected Child Care Center while exercising or attending a class or meeting. The Child Care room is designed with walkers in mind. Creative arts, games and activities are offered to children during the time they spend in the room. JCC Sports & Fitness members can reserve space one week in advance, while JCC members can make reservations 24 hours in advance. Dropins are accepted if space is available. The minimum stay is one hour/day and maximum stay is two visits/day with a three–hour limit. Waiting lists are utilized when the Child Care Center is at capacity. To avoid being charged for a “no show,” please call 24 hours in advance if you need to cancel your reservation. A parent or guardian must remain on the JCC campus. A 10-minute grace period is included in an hour reservation. Payment is required at the end of the care provided. First and birthday visits are free. The Child Care Center reserves the right to limit a child’s reservation time based on the child’s adaptation to the environment.

Nursery 6 weeks—walking (303) 316-6301 $6.50/hour ($3.25/half–hour) $7.50/hour ($3.50/half-hour) Reservations are on a first-come, first-served basis. JCC Sports & Fitness members are able to make reservations one week in advance. One to two attendants provide care for up to five babies during prime time. Nursery reservations are more restricted after 5 p.m. on weekdays, at all times on weekends, and if children within the nursery and the Child Care Center must be consolidated into one room during afternoons. Same-day reservations are available as staffing permits. Payment due at time of service.

Breastfeeding Winter: Thursday, Jan. 26 Spring: Thursday, May 3 Summer: Thursday, July 19 Fall: Thursday, Oct. 25 6:30—9 p.m. JCC $45/JCC Member; $52/Guests (includes partners) While breastfeeding is a natural process, it is mostly a learned art. The more you know the fewer challenges you might face. After attending a class you will be aware of the obstacles that can occur in the first days and weeks and know how to handle them. Instructor Donna Brown, R.N., IBCLC discusses the advantages of breastfeeding, how breast milk is produced and how to get off to a good start. We recommend taking this class in the last trimester of pregnancy.

Join local pediatricians, Dr. Sharon Sagel and Dr. Lisa Schwartz, from Southeast Denver Pediatrics, as they prepare parents for situations that include difficulty in breathing, choking, seizures, dehydration and SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome). You’ll learn how to perform infant CPR, how to “baby-proof ” your home, and how to respond to burns, cuts, bruises, head injuries, high fevers and more. Instructors also provide valuable information about the issues new parents often face during the first few weeks of their baby’s life.

New mothers will find a safe and nurturing environment created by instructor Deborah Fishman, Psy.D, for discussing the challenges of coping with motherhood.You’ll also have the opportunity to explore the ways in which your identity will change and how the changes will affect your relationships. This interactive class also features the experiences and advice from women who have themselves just become moms.

Becoming a parent is one of the most rewarding experiences you will have, yet also the most one of the most expensive. It can be overwhelming to understand the changes required to your saving and spending patterns to plan for the everyday costs of having a child, planning for preschool/grade school and for many parents, saving for college. It's also critical to plan for how your children will be taken care of in the event of a loss of a family member. It's time to build a rocket! Dads, grandpas, uncles and children: Join us for some Ruach (spirit) as you will receive your very own kit to create a rocket. We will then head to a local park to see how high it will fly.

Girls Night Out on Super Bowl Sunday The JCC Maccabi Teen Network is a programming resource for all Denver Jewish teens. Building on the success of the 2010 Denver JCC Maccabi Games, the JCC Maccabi Teen Network (MTN)will encourage Denver teens to deepen the relationships formed through the Games as well as provide a context for creating new friendships. These programs will also welcome teens and tweens who have not previously been involved with the Games but are interested in connecting with their peers in a Jewish environment. What is JCC Maccabi ArtsFest? JCC Maccabi ArtsFest is designed to inspire Jewish teens through a dynamic combination of workshop, performance, exhibition, community service, social activities, and fun to develop their individuality through the medium of artistic expression while strengthening their bonds to their Jewish heritage, community and Israel. The program is not is not a competition. However, teens must submit audition tapes based on the standards provided by the artist in resident (AIR). Teens work together with their AIR and the teens in their specialty to create art for the collaborative final performance and gallery.

The study of Kabbalah is a life-long process of growth. Each class we teach stands on its own, though knowledge and application of Kabbalah progresses with continuing study. Our curriculum is an integration of textual study, discussion, self-exploration and meditation. Advanced students focus on spiritual growth through text-based study or exploration of the authentic self. We apply Kabbalah concepts to your life to help change your awareness and impact how you see yourself and others. The first year curriculum consists of three classes, which are typically taught in sequential order: Soul, Space and Time. We recommend that new students start with Soul, but you can start with Space if the logistics of that class are better. Time is only offered in the spring.

Transportation The Taxi Voucher Program for JFS at the JCC has changed. Only participants of JFS at the JCC can participate and the vouchers/rides are limited to one round trip per week, a maximum of four a month. All rides start at the participant's home and go directly to the JCC, and then back again. There will not be stops along the way. The vouchers cost $2.50 for each direction. If you cannot drive, or use of public transportation is a hardship, you qualify for the vouchers. We look forward to driving you and getting you to your programs! Let's Write with Susan Jacobs Mondays, 9—11 a.m. Free Seniors in the Let’s Write class put pen to paper under the guidance of Susan Jacobs, who holds a degree in gerontology, and who has volunteered at the JCC for over 25 years. Jacobs suggests a theme or topic, sometimes bringing in a picture or a poem for inspiration. Following a discussion of the topic, the class gets down to work, producing writing that is spontaneous, inventive and heartfelt. The last portion of each session is devoted to reading aloud and responding to each writing selection.

Introduction to Computers (60 min): 9-10 a.m. In this class you will learn about the different components to a computer including the CPU, keyboard, mouse and monitor. You will learn how to power the computer on and off, use the mouse and the keyboard and how to navigate through the traditional Windows™ environment. This class if for beginners who are not familiar with a computer and want to see what the hubbub is about.

Group Classes The JCC Sports & Fitness Center offers more than 80 classes per week to help you maximize your workout — with new classes being introduced all the time. We have multiple group exercise studios and offer a wide variety of classes including yoga, spinning, AquaFit, Pilates, step, Fitness Fusion, Zumba, body sculpt, NIA, Tai Chi and low impact Aerobics — all taught by certified instructors. Pilates (Equipment Based) Pilates is a dynamic, non-impact fitness exercise program that combines stretching and strengthening movements with elements of weight training and breath work. Pilates builds core strength, elongates and balances the muscular system, brings the body into proper alignment and increases balance and flexibility.

Physical Therapy

Register for classes online up to 24 hours in advance at www.jccdenver.org. We offer four-session packages for $48 or you can drop in for $12 (based on availability). If you need to cancel or make changes to your class, please give 24 hours notice. Class schedules can be found online or at the Sports & Fitness Center.

Our physical therapists are licensed professionals who work with people who have sustained disabilities, impairments or limitations in their overall physical function. Therapists examine, evaluate, develop treatment plans and provide prognosis for each patient on an individual basis. Individual treatment plans are geared toward reaching specific rehabilitation goals that are set by our therapists and the patient together as a team.

Yoga A wide variety of yoga styles and levels are offered to suit the novice through advanced levels. Participants learn proper breathing techniques and full body alignment. Instructors guide each participant through a series of progressions to maximize individual results. Classes include Hatha, Iyengar, yoga flow, power yoga, heated yoga and senior yoga.

Specialized Training for Parkinson’s & Multiple Sclerosis Personal Trainer, Sheila Bellew has been in the fitness industry for 28 years and specializes in working with Parkinson’s and MS for both groups and individuals. She has worked with patients at St Joseph’s hospital and is involved with Parkinson’s Association of the Rockies and has been featured on 9News.

Muscle Activation Technique Specialty Classes The Sports & Fitness Center offers a complete range of group fitness classes for every interest and level of fitness. Such as Barre, Zumba, Kickboxing, NIA, Gyrokinesis and Spin.

AquaFit Take your workout to the pool with these invigorating, non-impact classes. Use water resistance to develop strength and cardiovascular endurance. Swimming experience is not necessary. Youth Fitness Our youth fitness certification course is designed for kids ages 12–18. This certification teaches your child how to exercise safely in the fitness center and help get them started on their own workout routine. After completion of this course, your child is able to use the weight room and cardio area unsupervised. The cost to meet with a trainer for the youth fitness certification is $60. This level is for the swimmer who is comfortable in the water and can float independently. In this class, students will begin to learn streamlining, freestyle and the foundations of backstroke. Students will become more independent in the water as they gain skills.

LEVEL C: Manatees This level is for children who can consistently swim freestyle and are ready to start learning side breathing so they can increase their distance. Students will also work on backstroke progression and be introduced to breaststroke and butterfly kick.

Our Adult Swim Club is designed for adults and their guests who are: • At least 13 years old • Or able to swim the full length of the pool (25 yards) continuously (four laps without stopping) Come join our coaches for a challenging workout in the pool! Regular swimming builds endurance, muscle strength and cardio-vascular -fitness. It can serve as a cross-training element to your regular workouts. Swimming is a lifetime sport that enhances almost the entire body — heart, lungs and muscles — with very little joint strain. Most levels can be accommodated and our coaches are happy to offer stroke evaluations and instruction.

Lap Swimming & Water Fitness Classes At least one lap lane is available at most times except during Swim Safe Academy, Sea Stars Swim Team and Adult Swim Club practices. Swimmers, please share lanes and be considerate of scheduled classes. Lane adjustment to accommodate additional lap swimmers is based on class size. AquaFit classes, which include body sculpting and shallow and deep water exercise, are offered free of charge to Sports & Fitness members. Whether you’re a recreational or a serious competitive player, you’ll find everything you’re looking for at our convenient year-round, indoor/outdoor facility. The Tennis Center’s first-class professionals offer private lessons and a wide range of drills throughout the year. A number of the club’s programs are available for non-members.

Membership The tennis year runs from Oct. 1–Sept. 30. Currently the tennis center has a waitlist. However, waitlist members get a number of great benefits at the club until their numbers are called. The Renovation & Construction of The Elaine Wolf Theatre Many of you know that due to a generous gift from Elaine Wolf, our mainstage theatre space (formerly The Shwayder Theatre) is receiving a significant renovation. Those who drive up to the Center will definitely notice a whole new MACC before even entering our lobby. Our new space will include a mezzanine level with additional seating, a new accessible aisle in the orchestra, a new stage floor, as well as new lighting and sound systems. Construction will continue through the winter semester. Also note, that our lobby space will be undergoing a big transformation, so please pardon our mess! With the business on the edge of bankruptcy, his son Noah, who has no appreciation for antiques, is eager to close the business, demolish the building and build a new apartment complex. But, a mysterious stranger appears, and Fidelman sees new possibilities for the business. The film comes alive through complex and multi-layered characters and their relationships form the foundation of the film. Like fine antique furniture, this film is full of subtleties and nuances to be savored and enjoyed long after the film is over.

Sunday, Feb. 26, 1 p.m. Dolphin Boy Directed by Dani Menkin, Yonatan Nir 2011/Israel/ 72 minutes Hebrew and Arabic with English Subtitles This compelling documentary presents the story of Morad, a high school student from an Arab village in northern Israel, who is kidnapped and brutally beaten by classmates when an innocent text message to a female classmate is misinterpreted. Weeks later Morad appears physically healed yet remains completely disconnected from humans and unable to communicate, suffering from extreme post traumatic stress disorder. His devoted father quits his job and accompanies him to a treatment facility in Eilat where Morad begins to interact with dolphins and, eventually, with the humans around him. This remarkable film follows him through four years of recovery interweaving documentation from Morad’s doctor, tapes from the dolphin facility, and footage shot by the filmmakers who are granted exceptional access by Morad throughout his difficult journey. .

Monday, Feb. 27, 5:30 p.m. My Australia Director: Ami Drozd 2010/Israel,Poland/96 minutes Hebrew and Polish with English Subtitles Poland, the mid 1960s. A struggling family in an impoverished neighborhood. The single mother spends most of her time at work in order to provide for her 12 and 15 year old sons who have joined a gang with strong neo-Nazi orientations. The gang enters a Jewish neighborhood, vandalizing the premises and stabbing some youngsters, until they are arrested by the police. Due to this incident, their mother decides to tell them the truth – she is a Jew who survived the Holocaust and raised them in the Catholic faith. She informs them that they are going to immigrate to Australia, while in truth, they are moving to Israel. The film explores the struggles for self-identity as immigrants, while trying to build a new life in a foreign land. (Jerusalem Film Festival)

Monday, Feb. 27, 8 p.m. Between Two Worlds Directors: Deborah Kaufman and Alan Snitow 2011/USA, English/70 minutes Between Two Worlds is a groundbreaking exploration of the community and family divisions that are redefining American Jewish identity and politics. The filmmakers’ own families are battlegrounds over loyalty to Israel, interpretations of the Holocaust, intermarriage, and a secret communist past. Filmed in the US and Israel, this documentary begins with a near riot at a Jewish Film Festival in San Francisco, reveals the agonizing battle over divestment from Israel on a university campus and shows the crackdown on dissent in Israel itself. Between Two Worlds is a personal essay film telling five riveting stories that go beyond political postures to reveal the passionate debates over identity and generational change inside today’s American Jewish community. Presented with a post-film discussion led by the filmmakers.

Tuesday, Feb. 28, 5:30 p.m. Winston Churchill: Walking with Destiny Director: Richard Trank 2010/USA/100 minutes This polished production from the Simon Wiesenthal Center’s Moriah Films Division is a meticulous portrait of former British Prime Minister Winston Churchill and his special bond with the Jewish people. Oscar-winning director Richard Trank focuses on the months between Churchill’s ascent to power and early 1942, as he inspired and united Great Britain during its fight against Nazi Germany. Emerging from years of isolation in the political wilderness, Churchill was a lone voice in early opposition to Hitler. This film’s impressive roster of interviewees includes leading British historian John Lukacs, Churchill’s official biographer Sir Martin Gilbert and Churchill’s grandchildren. Awards & Festivals San Francisco Jewish Film Festival; Boston Jewish Film Festival Wednesday, Feb. 29, 5:30 p.m. Human Turbine with I’m Ready Director: Danny Verete 2010/Israel/54 minutes Hebrew and Arabic with English Subtitles In this beautiful film we follow the attempts to harness wind and solar energy for the benefit of the residents of the Palestinian village of Susia. And in the process we get to know extraordinary individuals from both sides of the conflict. What was missing in Noam Dotan’s otherwise perfect life? What made him and others leave symbols of success and devote themselves to a renewable energy project in a Palestinian village? What is this dream, shared with the residents of Susia, which is today coming to fruition? They work through action, rather than through protest or demonstrations. Three years in the making, in joint meetings with local residents, they have created a renewable energy project at Susia. Festivals and Awards Best Narrative Feature, Fargo Film Festival Thursday, March 1, 8:15 p.m. Nicky’s Family Director: Matej Miná 2011/Czech Republic,Slovak Republic/96 minutes English This is the moving story of Sir Nicholas Winton, an Englishman who organized the rescue of 669 Czech and Slovak children just before the outbreak of WWII. He did not speak of these events to anyone until his wife discovered a suitcase full of documents in their attic 50 years later. The true power of this story, and his actions, is revealed at the end of the film when we learn that this story has inspired not only those that he saved, but thousands of others across the globe, to invest themselves in positive actions around the world.

The arrival of the strangers sparks conflicted emotions, from senseless hate to longing for the humanity of music. This German-Jewish variation on the films of Woody Allen and Charlie Kaufman is a smart and silly self-reflexive comedy from Dani Levy (Go For Zucker). Alfi Seliger (a nod to Allen’s alter ego Alvy Singer in Annie Hall) is a filmmaker whose life is falling apart—he discovers his wife having an affair, his kids hate him, his health seems to be deteriorating, and his latest script is continually rejected. Paranoid and suicidal, he becomes convinced that his entire life is being controlled by filmmaker Dani Levy. MEET THE FACULTY Toby Meyer studied fine art at the University of Colorado, the University of Oklahoma, Loretto Heights College, Red Rocks Community College and with Edith Niblo. Her paintings have been collected in private and corporate collections in Australia, Israel, Germany, Ireland and Mexico, as well as throughout the United States. She has participated in numerous exhibitions and one-woman shows. Her work can be seen frequently in the Denver area at the Madden Museum of Art and in Florida at Signatures Fine Arts.

Todd Redmond received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Illinois State University with an emphasis in ceramics and photography. He has spent the past 18 years making a living from his artwork. Todd owns a handmade tile business and also creates functional and sculptural ceramics. Teaching has been a large part of his career, and he enjoys sharing his knowledge and experience with others.

Vicky Smith holds a B.F.A. from the University of Colorado at Boulder and an M.F.A. in ceramic sculpture from the Rhode Island School of Design. She has taught at the Rhode Island School of Design, the DeCordova Museum in Massachusetts and at numerous art centers and community schools. She has over 20 years experience working with students from kindergarten through adults in community centers, public and private schools to college settings. Her work has been exhibited at art shows and galleries throughout the country. Renovation/ Construction of The Elaine Wolf Theatre: Many of you know that due to a generous gift from Elaine Wolf, our mainstage theatre space (formerly The Shwayder Theatre) is receiving a significant renovation. Our new space will include a mezzanine level with additional seating, a new accessible aisle in the orchestra, a new stage floor, as well as new lighting and sound systems. Construction is going very well and will be completed in the early part of the winter semester. Also note, that our lobby space will be undergoing a big transformation, so please pardon our mess. Based on the spectacular Dreamworks animated film, join us as we journey to the island of Berk where the dragons and the humans are in constant turmoil. The story follows a young Viking teenager named Hiccup who aspires to follow his tribe's tradition of becoming a dragon slayer. After finally capturing his first dragon, and with his chance at finally gaining the tribe's acceptance, he finds that he cannot kill the injured dragon. In the confines of this quintessentially American classic play, we do not witness great adventure or harrowing deeds of daring do. We do, however, taste of the lives of these small town folks and in doing so we are offered an extraordinary look at the simple complexity of being alive. The play asks big questions that it does not answer and affirms life even in death. It is a tale that resonates individually with each audience member and, like all great plays, it wants us to see ourselves more

clearly after the final curtain descends. It is bold and deep and asks us to ask the colossal question “What does in mean to be human?” The workshop production includes four fully-mounted public performances in the 100-seat Pluss Theatre. Registration for this class will commit actors to full participation through May 13, 2012.

There is no audition required to sign up for this production class. Students will be cast within the first few classes. There is a chance that the play will be double cast, depending on the size of enrollment. Please read the rehearsal and performance schedule carefully to determine if you are able to participate. The winter and the early spring semester are scheduled like our traditional class offerings (one class meeting per week), while there are additional rehearsals in April and early May 2011 immediately prior to the performances. Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West

MEET THE FACULTY Emily MacIntyre (Assistant Director, Wolf Theatre Academy, MACC) holds a B.A. degree in theatre from California Lutheran University. She spent her childhood and young adult years acting in the Dallas/Ft.Worth area. While earning her degree, Emily worked with Kingsmen Shakespeare Company in Thousand Oaks, CA as a union stage-manager for three seasons. During the time spent in California, she also directed/designed children’s pageants for local churches, worked crew for Young Actor’s Ensemble, taught Shakespeare camps and acted in children’s theatre with Amgen’s Community Outreach Project and Pinki’s Playhouse. Emily moved to Denver in June of 2003 where she has been privileged to work with the children and staff of the Wolf Theatre Academy – stage-managing over 30 Mainstage productions. Other MACC productions include Poignant Irritations and Denver Children’s Theatre productions including: Rikki Tikki Tavi, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella and Tomato Plant Girl. Emily spent one season codirecting/teaching with ‘Acting Up! Theatre Arts for Teens’ and currently teaches the stage management class as a guest artist for Denver School of the Arts.

Kelly McAllister (faculty) holds a BA in Theatre Arts from San Jose State University. Kelly is an actor, director, playwright and experienced theatre teacher. He has taught extensively for the Wolf Theatre Academy for the last few years and directed popular productions of Brighton Beach Memoirs, Biloxi Blues, Arsenic and Old Lace, Greater Tuna and Complete Works of Shakespeare, Abridged for the Wolf Company Players. He has also taught for the Renaissance Program in Boulder. His bi-coastal credits include theatre classes in New York City for the Hope Theatre, Synapse Productions and Expanded Arts as well as California credits at Small World Schools, Children’s Theatre Workshop and The Western Stage. Kelly was a reviewer for nytheatre.com and won playwriting awards at the NY Innovative Theatre awards and the NYC International Fringe Festival. Kelly is also a former full-time school teacher.

Kate Roselle (faculty) holds a B.A. in theatre, magna cum laude from Washington University in St. Louis. She is currently the Associate Artistic Director at Curious Theatre Company and the former Education Director at New Stage Theatre in Jackson, MS. A director and teacher, she has worked in Denver with young actors and writers with Curious New Voices, the Arvada Center and the Denver Center Teaching Academy in addition to numerous in-school workshops. She has served as a grant panelist and teacher workshop leader for the Mississippi Arts

Crystal Verdon (faculty) holds a B.A. in Theatre Arts from Concordia University in Irvine, California. Crystal has taught extensively for the Wolf Theatre Academy for the last four years since moving to Colorado from San Diego where she taught drama and specialty classes such as Shakespeare, Stage Combat, Movement for Actors, and Storydrama for almost a decade. In San Diego she taught extensively with San Diego Junior Theatre (the oldest continuing children's theatre program in the country) as well as working with theatres including The Old Globe, North Coast Repertory Theatre, La Jolla Playhouse, Lamb's Players Theatre, and 6th @ Penn Theatre. During this past year, she has been Program Manager at Playwrights Project and, while in Colorado Springs, was a public school drama director and the Theatre Education Coordinator for the CS Fine Arts Center, expanding their educational offerings and writing museum theatre curriculum. She has also worked extensively as a performer in Denver, San Diego and Colorado Springs.

Steve Wilson (Executive Artistic Director and Wolf Theatre Academy Director, MACC) holds an M.F.A. in acting from the National Theatre Conservatory in Denver and a B.F.A. in drama from the University of Southern California. He has been an artist-in-residence throughout the Cherry Creek and Denver Public School Districts, and was the high school theatre teacher and Performing Arts Chairman at St. Mary’s Academy for 10 years. Steve has directed productions at major theatre companies throughout the Denver area, including PHAMALy (Physically Handicapped Actor’s & Musical Artists League), the Bug Theatre Company, Town Hall Arts Center and The Theatre Group. He garnered awards for “Best Director” from both the Denver Post and Boulder Daily Camera as well as a record-breaking four Henry Awards (Colorado’s Tony Award) for “Best Direction of a Musical” for his productions of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Urinetown, Man of LaMancha and Beauty & the Beast for PHAMALy. Steve also received a Denver Post Ovation award as “Best Director of a Musical” for PHAMALy’s Joseph... and Side Show as well as a “Best of Westword” award for “Best Direction of a Musical” for PHAMALY’s Beauty and the Beast. His acting credits include numerous Shakespeare festivals, the Denver Center Theatre Company, Compass Theatre Company, the Denver Civic Theatre and the Theatre Group. Steve, who has overseen the development of three theatre companies, is currently the MACC’s Executive Artistic Director, the Director of the Wolf Theatre Academy and serves on the Board of Directors of the Colorado Theatre Guild (former six term President) and the Scientific and Cultural Collaborative (current Board co-chair).
