Sunday, April 1, 3—5 p.m. JCC, Boettcher Lobby $9 per person, ages 2 and up; $36 max/family/ JCC members with advance registration; $11/ person, ages 2 and up; $44 max per family/guests and day-of Journey from slavery to freedom with Moses, Pharoah and friends! Our celebration will culminate at the JCC’s indoor “Read Sea”.Wear your swimsuits!

Whether you have played mahjong before, or this is your fist time, please join us for what promises to be a fun evening of learning,laughing and relaxing together while supporting Family Programs. Tables will be played at all levels. Instruction will be provided for novices. Advance registration requested by Friday, May 4. Please indicate your level of play with registration, and bring your mahjong set and card if you have one. 2012 Cards will also be available for sale at the event.

Empathy is the root of compassion and kindness. Join us in a dialogue on how we,as parents,can support our children to be empathetic,kind,and have a sense of responsibility toward repairing the world. Take the time for some personal learning, and support your parenting journey, while you support your child’s development. Please bring a brown bag lunch.

Instructors Rabbi Jeffrey Kaye (Judaic) and Sue Geissler (Prepared Childbirth), lead this program created by the Colorado Agency for Jewish Education and co-sponsored by the JCC and Rose Medical Center.Please note: participants join the Boot Camp for New Dads and Miracles and Mayhem classes. Enrollment also includes a JCC Family Membership.

Spring: Thursday, May 3 Summer: Thursday, July 19 6:30—9 p.m., JCC $45/session/JCC members (includes partners); $52/session/guests While breastfeeding is a natural process, it is mostly a learned art. The more you know the fewer challenges you might face. After attending a class you will be aware of the obstacles that can occur in the first days and weeks and know how to handle them. Instructor Donna Brown, R.N., IBCLC discusses the advantages of breastfeeding, how breast milk is produced and how to get off to a good start.We recommend taking this class in the last trimester of pregnancy.

Miracles and Mayhem: The Realities of Motherhood Baby Safe Spring: Thursday, May 10 Summer: Thursday, July 26 6:30—9 p.m., JCC $45/session/JCC members (includes partners); $52/session/guest Join local pediatricians, Dr. Sharon Sagel and Dr. Lisa Schwartz, from Southeast Denver Pediatrics, as they prepare parents for situations that include difficulty in breathing, choking, seizures, dehydration and SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome). You’ll learn how to perform infant CPR, how to “baby-proof ” your home,and how to respond to burns,cuts,bruises, head injuries, high fevers and more. Instructors also provide valuable information about the issues new parents often face during the first few weeks of their baby’s life.

It can be overwhelming to understand the changes required to your saving and spending patterns to plan for the everyday costs of having a child, planning for preschool/grade school and for many parents, saving for college. It's also critical to plan for how your children will be taken care of in the event of a loss of a family member. Seth Davis is a Certified Financial PlannerTM and Private Client Advisor with RMB Capital Management,LLC,who spends much of his time working with younger families. He will provide a solid overview on the financial topics you need to know about and answer any questions you may have.
