Pickup Moving to a New Location on JCC Campus Our MACC Theatre will be getting a face lift beginning in October and our normal place of pick up will be used for construction companies.

Beginning Thursday October 7, we will be receiving our CSA pickups at the West Entrance in the new community garden.

This will now be our permanent pick up location. This is a positive change since the days are now getting shorter and there is better lighting for us in this location.

Spotlight MM Local Please come and sample the delicious jarred produce from MM local. They will be here at the Tuesday,September CSA pick ups to let you taste the delicious tomatoes, peaches, chilies, and other good stuff from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m.

This week, the Colorado State Parks Board is poised to pass fee hikes aimed at making up half of an anticipated loss of $2.6 million in state funding.

Park attendance in the fiscal year that ended in June was up by 600,000 over fiscal 2008-09. The number of people visiting state parks has increased by nearly 19 percent compared with the 10.6 million visitors in 2003.

Last fall, state parks overseers cut staff by 7.5 percent, reducing the statewide number of full-time employees to 270 and seasonals to 600.

"We'll be working closely with our parks board to look at what properties would be affected and how they would be affected. . . . I can't guarantee that we will be able to keep every park open in the long term. We will do everything we can to keep them open."

Deep cuts already have been made in a number of popular parks, and services have been curtailed. For example, at Cherry Creek State Park east of Denver, cuts have reduced operations manager Joe Brand's staff by five, including three law enforcement rangers responsible for public safety.

Meanwhile, camping reservations at the park are up sharply, with overall visitation spiking by at least 10 percent.

State parks board members are scheduled to vote Thursday on the proposed fee hikes - designed to raise $1.3 million. These would take effect Nov. 1. The five board members also will vote on offering a new $175 lifetime pass for seniors.

Ingredients

* 1 (15 ounce) can pumpkin puree * 4 eggs * 1 cup vegetable oil * 2/3 cup water * 3 cups white sugar * 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour * 2 teaspoons baking soda * 1 1/2 teaspoons salt * 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon * 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg * 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves * 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger Directions 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour three 7x3 inch loaf pans.

2. In a large bowl, mix together pumpkin puree, eggs, oil, water and sugar until well blended. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves and ginger.

Stir the dry ingredients into the pumpkin mixture until just blended. Pour into the prepared pans.

3. Bake for about 50 minutes in the preheated oven. Loaves are done when toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
