The Quality of Life Progress Report is JCCI’s signature document. It presents a picture of where Jacksonville and Northeast Florida have been, where we are now, and where we need to be with data spanning 25 years in the nine distinct categories mentioned above. Each Topic Section of the Report is sponsored by a Champion for that has an interest in that particular area. As a resource for fact-based decisions, the Report reaches far into the community and is brought to the attention of key decision-makers such as the Mayor’s Office, members of our City Council, the Jacksonville Regional Chamber of Commerce and United Way.

2011 Race Relations Progress Report JCCI released its sixth Race Relations Progress Report in January 2011. The objective of this report is to track progress, prioritize action and stimulate institutional change in six areas of documented race disparity: Education, Income and Employment, Housing, Health, Criminal Justice and the Political Process. Two thousand copies of the 2011 summary report will be printed and distributed to the community and wide variety of key decision-makers.

Committed: JCCI is proud to offer an online, interactive version of the information in our Quality of Life Progress Report. Currently, many of the indicators are available at county and regional levels, with many of the indicators provided in a state and national context. Because of Jacksonville’s particularly large land area and many of the varying degree to which the we face are distributed through different neighborhoods, this upgrade will allow JCCI to provide online information (indicators) at the neighborhood level.

JCCI Study & Implementation Opportunities Recession Recovery…and Beyond Implementation – Year One

Committed: The 2011 JCCI Study Committee, chaired by Elaine Brown, focused on regional efforts to quickly create jobs and best position the region for long-term economic growth. The First Year of the Implementation process looks at the series of recommendations that were developed in five primary areas: creating jobs in key regional growth industries, building and maintaining an educated and skilled workforce, encouraging the growth of small business, improving the region’s marketing elements, and securing regional leadership for sustainable economic growth. 2011-12 JCCI Forward Opportunities Forward is a JCCI initiative that seeks to engage men and women, ages 25-45, in civic involvement and to prepare them for their future roles as community leaders. JCCI Forward is the ideal way to interact with city leaders, to develop community leadership and to build a network of friends and associates who all share the common goal of improving our community. The Forward program year begins July 1 and ends June 30. Topics are selected from communitywide input by a diverse group of JCCI members.

Forward Skills Seminar Series

Committed: (one exclusive eight-session series opportunity) The Skills Seminar Series offers practical training in two-hour sessions. Sessions are designed to give participants knowledge that can be immediately applied in their professional careers and community roles. Any company, nonprofit or community advocate who wishes to enhance the effectiveness of future leaders are also encouraged to enroll in this series. These very interactive sessions are limited to 20 participants each and participation is free to the public. $2,000 investment (one exclusive six-session series opportunity) Issue Forums offer participants a venue to interact with respected community leaders and resource experts on issues of concern to Northeast Florida citizens. Participants explore issues critical to the community’s growth, seek understanding of related problems, and come to consensus on proposed action plans implemented for positive change. Forward has posted all of our Issue Forum results on our website: www.jcciforward.org. All Issue Forums are Free to the public. Topic: Engaged Action thru Civic Journalism Spring 2012 Committed: Looking at how traditional media outlets are partnering with social media to not only report on community issues, but to act as a solution partner and highlight critical needs, igniting a community-wide effort to bring real results and tangible change.
