• Professional instructors who are well trained through the American Red Cross. • A balanced program that teaches swimming skills and how to be safe in the water. • Learning made fun in a safe environment. • Comprehensive swimming and water safety options for everyone in the family—from infancy to adulthood. For each level of Parent and Child Aquatics, our instructors follow a plan to introduce new swimming and water safety skills that are developmentally appropriate for infants and young children. Routines and the familiar are extremely important to your young swimmer. Each class uses toys, songs, fun, and games to keep the children engaged and enjoying the water experience, all the while teaching them basic aquatic skills.

PRIVATE SWIM LESSONS 30 minute private lessons are available for all age groups. Participants must be at least 3 years old and have a Full Center Membership. $50 per lesson. Book of 5 lessons $225.

SEMI PRIVATE SWIM LESSONS Two swimmers with same ability level. (Fees are shared between the two swimmers). Participants must be at least 3 years old and have a Full Center Membership. $80 per lesson. Book of 5 lessons $350.

It is important to understand that Parent and Child Aquatics is not designed to teach infants and toddlers to become skilled swimmers or even to survive in the water on their own. LITTLE DIPPERS Great experiences and fun activities teach infants to feel comfortable in the water. Parents learn to hold and support infants properly in the water. Infants will explore breath control, floating, and changing body position while “moving” through the water. MOLLY BURACK ANNUAL LECTURE Secrets in the Suitcase: Stories My Mother Never Told Me Stories by Molly Greenberg Presentation by Rosalie Greenberg, M.D. Molly Greenberg was born in 1924 in a shtetl in Poland. An orphan by age three, she was raised in poverty by five older siblings until the Soviet army seized control. Molly survived the war by pretending she was Mary, a nonJew living in constant fear of discovery and extermination. Molly married Sam, also a Holocaust survivor and together in 1949, they came to America to start a new life. The early years of Molly’s life were too painful to talk about. However, during a senior writing class at the JCC, Molly finally faced her painful past with the encouragement of her teacher, Molly Burack. This book is about Molly’s life, in her own words. Her ability to survive and thrive serves as an inspiration to us all. The stories were found in a long-forgotten case, many years after she died, hence the title, Secrets in the Suitcase.

AMAZING GRACE Grace Kelly: Fashion, Movies, Images and Life James A. Michener Art Museum, Doylestown, Pennsylvania This is the first exhibit to trace the unique path Grace Kelly took from Philadelphia to Monaco, inviting viewers to discover the life of Grace Kelly (1929-1982) beyond the fairy tale. Through innovative use of sound, film and technology this exhibition brings us up close to the stage and screen legend, fashion icon, princess, United Nations advocate for children, and international spokesperson for arts and culture. With unprecedented access to Kelly’s personal objects from the archives of the Palace of Monaco, the exhibition illustrates her life through letters, photographs, awards, jewelry, couture fashion and other personal artifacts, as well as film clips, playbills and souvenirs from her acting career. We will have time to tour this interesting gem of a museum, and have lunch on your own in the charming town of Doylestown. ADLER APHASIA CENTER at JCC MetroWest

A Place of Reconnection, of Rediscovery, of Recovery. Welcome to the Adler Aphasia Center—a place of hope. We are a resource for people with aphasia, their caregivers, and the community. Through our innovative group therapy led by licensed speech-language pathologists, we provide a stimulating environment to improve communication and cognitive skills and strengthen social connections to help you live a fuller, richer life. HOW DO WE HELP PEOPLE WITH APHASIA AND THEIR CAREGIVERS? Through group activities, the arts, technology, and fitness & caregiver support groups, our programs help our members and their families reconnect with life by: • Improving communication skills • Exercising cognitive skills

WHAT IS THE COST TO ATTEND? Cost is $750 a semester ($25 a day). This is less than one-third of the Center’s actual cost per member. Scholarships are available- no one is turned away for their inability to pay. WHAT IS A DAY LIKE AT THE ADLER APHASIA CENTER? 9:30am - 10:00am Enjoy a cup of coffee and a breakfast snack with fellow aphasia members 10:00am - 11:00am First group session meets 11:00am - 12:00pm Second group session meets 12:00pm - 12:30pm Lunch 12:30pm - 1:30pm Final group session meets

• Building self-esteem

Sample groups include: brain fitness, computer labs working with language based software, skill-building handwriting and spelling, fitness, advocacy, aphasia 101, current events, cards and games, jewelry and gift design.

• Making social connections • Building strategies to help families meet the challenges of aphasia HOW IS THE ADLER APHASIA CENTER STRUCTURED? • Members with aphasia participate in 3 groups a day • Groups activities change by the semester, based on member interests • The program meets on a semester basis, either on Mondays and Wednesdays OR Tuesdays and Thursdays, for 15 weeks (3 semesters a year)

IS LONG TERM REHABILITATION POSSIBLE? The Adler Aphasia Center at JCC MetroWest’s primary focus is on direct services for people living with aphasia and their caregivers. At the Center’s flagship campus in Maywood, research is being conducted that demonstrates that over a one-year period, our members with aphasia experienced a significant increase in functional language and perceived quality of life due to their participation in Adler Aphasia Center programs.

We are now expanding our program to four days a week to meet the needs of those with aphasia. Contact Wendy Greenspan, Program Director at 973-530-3981 or wgreenspan@adleraphasiacenter.org for more information and to set up a tour.
