That’s why in just one year our community provided over 3,600 local students with financial aid to attend preschool, day school, summer camp or college. When tragedy strikes, our community has a support network for people like Marci, whose children deserve the stability of staying in their nurturing Jewish classrooms and building their Jewish identity. WE BUILD JEWISH IDENTITY 39 national college campuses are expected to combat student-led divestment efforts in the coming school year as part of the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions Movement (BDS), which threatens to delegitimize the state of Israel. That’s why, in just one year, our community helped send approximately 45,000 young adults from across the country and around the globe to Israel. These young people are the voice of the next generation, sharing our Jewish pride among their peers today and into the future. When we work together none of us are alone.

That’s why our Cleveland community invests in training programs to help people from all backgrounds succeed in Israeli society. Each year, our Cleveland community works with our international partner, the Jewish Agency for Israel (JAFI), to help thousands of Jews from around the world make aliyah to Israel. When Jews are struggling and need a safe haven, we are there to support them. When we work together none of us are alone.

70,000 Jews are estimated to live well below the poverty line in Ukraine, where violence has erupted and conflict continues. That’s why we work with our international partner, the Joint Distribution Committee (JDC), to offer a lifeline to basic needs. For tens of thousands of destitute seniors and families living across the globe and around the corner, we provide essentials like food, medicine, and home care. We are caring for family members we have never met. When we work together none of us are alone.

In addition to the 2015 Campaign, the Federation received and allocated $1,788,077 from United Way Services, and $620,000 from Prior Year Collections*. Those dollars supplemented allocations to partner agencies to fund unmet community needs. Total funds allocated after allowances for Campaign costs, collections and centrally administered services were $28,860,426.

* From 2009 through 2014, the Jewish Federation Endowment Fund Committee provided grants each year to be used for local needs. In 2014-15, “Prior Year Collections (PYC)” replaced this funding. PYC refers to funds collected for prior years’ campaigns that had originally been reserved as part of shrinkage. The Federation Board of Trustees determined PYC funds will supplement the campaign at a declining rate until 2019-20.
