At a Glance

Our Conductor Control system enables precise control over a number of J&C Joel products including; acoustic concertina banners, roller banners and other products.

The system gives the user control over up to 10 venue specific presets that J&C Joel will set up during installation. It also enables the user the to individually control mechanisms, create their own presets and control multiple mechanisms in a group.

Designed and Manufactured in the UK.

The Interface

Our emphasis is on simplicity and safety of use for our control system. The tablet interface is shown top left. It has an E-Stop alongside the unit for safety. Before any action takes place, the user is prompted for confirmation.

When a preset is selected, the user must then press “start” for the banner movement to begin. This stops banners moving up and down like a yo yo.

Individual Control

Need for some presets to be hardwired & set by consultant Unchangeable by the end user. e.g. “All deployed” and “All retracted” need to be uneditable Ability to import and export presets. For touring venues this can be saved for each company.

This is highlighted in main screen. Main screen in the middle shows the name, banner position & total length. The right hand side shows presets. Select a preset to assign this banners position in that preset. Drag the banner up or down using the large gradient slider, or select “length deployed” or “percent deployed” and type the figure. Hit save or discard depending on which action you want. Repeat for other banners. Buttons in general will need a short “press and hold” to prevent accidental presses.

• The Preset page is shown to the left. This enables the user to choose which preset they would like for their venue. Note, these are venue specific and set up according to your specification.

• Individual Control enables users to select a specific mechanism and move it to a different position. The mechanism position can also be saved to presets, allowing the user to customise their own presets. Banners can also be renamed.

• Group Control allows the user to move multiple mechanisms at the same time. This can be viewed as either a percentage movement, or as a distance movement.

Selected banners are in bright red, unselected are in faded green. Selecting several banners at once allows them all to be dragged at the same rate, they will all end up in the same position on screen; e.g. dragging the 4 in this view will allow you to position all the banners at a certain percentage deployment. To mass control to specific drops in metres, use the switch view button. No changes will happen to the real banners until the “go” button is pressed. This stops the banners from acting like a yo-yo. Buttons in general will need a short “press and hold” to prevent accidental presses.

Control Schematic

The Hardware

• A 300 x 300 MCC is required for the Conductor Control.

• Optional encoders in each mechanism to give exact positioning control.

• A local single phase supply for each motor up to 2.2kW.

• Requires an RJ45 & a 2 core YY 0.75mm cable between mechanisms. Cables can be daisy chained between each banner, with cables fitting within the same containment.

• An RJ45 & a 12 core YY 0.75mm cable from the MCC to the plug-in point for the tablet.

• E-Stops operate on a RJ45 daisy chain around the building. Can be integrated with other stage engineering packages.

Installation

• J&C Joel can install the Conductor Control or can provide mechanical and electrical drawings to aid your installation.

at two options; 0.18kW motor and a 0.37kW motor from NORD. These will have encoders, therefore positioning can be achieved.
