Lincolnville The Heart of the Maine Coast
Lincolnville, Maine is a well-kept secret – one of those “off the beaten path” places hiding in plain sight on the Midcoast of Maine. Within its boundaries are beaches, lakes, mountains, salmon streams, great places to stay, fabulous food, and countless things to see and do.
Voted one of the “top 20 Towns in the U.S.” by Outside Magazine, Lincolnville was first settled in 1774 as a farming and fishing community. Over time it has become home to an eclectic mix of people that includes artists, writers, craftsmen, world-class sailors, boat builders, winemakers, lobstermen, farmers, and just about any other profession you can name. Lincolnville is probably best known for “The Beach” that by reputation is the only stretch of beach sand visible from Route 1, along Penobscot Bay. We are centrally located, a few minutes North of Camden/Rockport/Rockland and just South of Belfast. For a day trip, we are about 90 minutes drive to both Bar Harbor, to the north and Portland, to the south. Truly, Lincolnville Beach has the geographical advantage of being “The Heart of The Maine Coast”. The small community of shops and eateries hosts visitors from around the world. The waterfront activities, whether it be families swimming, lobstermen unloading their catch of the day or the Islesboro Ferry loading or unloading visitors to the island, just three miles away are part of the Images: J. Corrado
9
The community of Lincolnville includes a large portion of Camden Hills State Park, named in the top 10 State Parks in the U.S.A., a mountain area with a network of superb hiking trails that offer spectacular views of Penobscot Bay and its many islands. It lives up to its name, literally “Where the Mountains Meet the Sea”.

daily routine. Great meals, coastal ambiance and a great vista are part of the beach’s atmosphere.
Lincolnville showcases an idealistic rural Maine community that just happens to have the largest Maine bay as one of its boundaries. The inland rural setting of a meandering pastoral country side boasts beautiful lakes and streams, abundant swimming, fishing and kayaking opportunities and farmland that hosts organic farms and vineyards for our local winery. Winter months foster colder outdoor activities such as cross country skiing
at Tanglewood and downhill skiing at the Snow Bowl. One can ice fish on the ponds, Ski-Doo on the local trail network, or enjoy a more vigorous method of exercise, show shoeing. Lincolnville, a small coastal community loaded with history, has something for everybody, year-round. Almost everyone that visits leaves with lasting memories and dreams of their return. Many people do return, some even decide to call it home.
