corporate identity policy

The ŻĦN logo and branding translates the Maltese Young Christian Workers’ identity into a visual language. It is the representation of a Christian movement working in today’s society. This logo and its identity must be used on everything produced by ŻĦN and to promote ŻĦN, in line with the style and guidelines as described in this manual. No additional marks will be allowed unless authorised in writing by ŻĦN’s PR Team.

Approved Logos and Brands A key feature of ŻĦN’s visual identity is that the ŻĦN logo may be used in 2 form variations. The letters “ż-ħ-n” and the symbol sitting beside should always appear together since they are the main icon. The text “żgħażagħ ħaddiema nsara” is an optional feature of the logo which may be included as shown in this manual.

Use of Logos and Brands The logo/brand may not be used without the approval of Żgħażagħ Ħaddiema Nsara’s PR Team. The ŻĦN’s PR Team Leader is responsible for keeping all relevant artwork according to specifications. All requests for use of logo must go through the PR Team Leader. For printed material, web design and signage, the visual structure and layout is also governed by this ŻĦN Brand Manual. Whether the item is being designed and produced internally or by external designers and printers, the PR Team Leader must be involved in order to ensure the identity and structure is used properly and that the ŻĦN brand is being implemented.

Photography and Graphic Illustrations Images used in conjunction with the ŻĦN logo must reflect the ŻĦN brand and must be approved by ŻĦN’s PR Team Leader.

Misuse of Logo ŻĦN has invested its time in creating the visual identity and set of tools to go with it. It is essential that these tools and style are used in exactly the way it has been established.

ŻĦN is strongly committed to ensuring complete and consistent adherence to the policy. Under no circumstances: • should the logo be downloaded from the website for insertion into documents. (Logos on the web are low resolution and give poor print quality), • should the logo be scanned, recreated or manipulated in any manner, • should elements be extracted from the logo, or manipulated in any manner. If a company making use of the ŻĦN logo chooses to ignore the guidelines described in this brand manual, the PR Team Leader reserves the right to have the infringing material removed from circulation and reprinted to correct specifications at a cost to be incurred by the company responsible.

our logo

The ŻĦN logo symbolises the Maltese Young Christian Workers movement’s personality. Only through consistent, unvarying reproduction can ŻĦN’s signature realise its potential. The elements that combine to create the ŻĦN logo - colours and logotype have been chosen with great care to represent this organisation. The ŻĦN logo shown below is made up of the letters “ż-ħ-n” next to an icon showing the three pillars of the Young Christian Workers method - The Review of Life, namely See, Judge and Act. These are represented by the three coloured rings, and a stylised drawing of a strand of wheat, representing the workers. The “ħ” in “żħn” is designed in a way that it shows the cross - a symbol of Christianity, befitting the beliefs the movement works within. This icon may appear alone or with the letters “żħn” as shown below. Additionally, one may add the text “żgħażagħ ħaddiema nsara” beneath the logo, as shown in the example below.

Adequate Clearspace and Size Always use the official reproduction artwork which is available from ŻĦN’s PR Team. To assure integrity and visibility, the ŻĦN logo should always be separated from competing text, images and graphics. The logo must always be surrounded by an adequate clearspace all around which may not be narrower than 10mm, as shown below, No image, text or the edge of a document may come within this zone.

Minimum Sizes

15mm

Please note the minimum size usage of the ŻĦN logo shown below. When used in the smallest versions, the clear space surrounding the logo may be smaller than 10mm, but not smaller than 5mm. Also, in the smallest versions, the text “żgħazagħ ħaddiema nsara” should not be used.

typography

For the wording “żgħażagħ ħaddiema nsara” and the letters “ż-ħ-n” the font U-Bahn is used due to its clean cut lines. This represents the youthful energy that the movement works with to accomplish its tasks. This font is available only in this weighting. Thus no italic or bold versions exist. The role of Typography Typography plays an essential role in our branding program. U-Bahn may be used for headers in documents. For official documents, Myriad Pro should be used. This font comes with numerous features, one of them being the adoption of the Maltese characters. Apart from this it proves to be good to attract the reader’s attention on the written word. Its range of weights offers broad flexibility and can be applied in all media, including promotional materials.

The ŻĦN brand in its simplicity is made up of three colours, and black. Preferably this version should be used on a white background. The version of the logo may be used on any colour, as long as it is light and offers enough contrast against the background. While the black & tricolour version is the preferred usage, one may opt to use a onecolour version of the logo, or a reversed-out logo. For examples see overleaf.

examples of misuse A glow or outline should never be used with the logo. It makes it unclear and does not conform with the brand guidelines.

An image taken from the web, or a resized image may result in pixelation. Please use the logo as approved by the ŻĦN PR Team. The logo is designed in vector graphics, making it resizable to any size possible, without losing any quality.

The image should never be resized out of its proportion. Care must be taken to ensure that the width and height of the image are kept to the proportions of the original image.

The tricolour logo should never be used on a background which has the same (or similar) colour as one of the rings. In the case that the background cannot be changed, one should opt to use the one-colour version of the logo.
