A Brief History of KEYSTONE TREE SPECIALISTS: Hi there folks of Pocono Pines! My name is Ike Olson. I am the proud owner of Keystone Tree Specialists, also known as The Tree Pros of the Poconos. Having been in business for over 40 years, I took time to pursue a forestry degree from Syracuse University. It was while I was in college that I started thinking about going into business for myself. Over the years, I have been thankful for making that decision. My focus and goal has always been to be the best of the best in tree service. Even more, I update my tree knowledge every year so I can service the public better. In 1991, I became a certified arborist, one of the first in the state of Pennsylvania, where I took and passed an all encompassing examination. I also have to get 30 educational credits every 3 years to maintain my certification. In doing so, I have a professional obligation to inform and educate the general public, especially the homeowner, as to what they should do, and not do, to the trees on their property. To do this, I offer a free consultation of their property. I also do public speaking; a one hour talk on trees. It was in 1984 when I began working in Pocono Pines, and the rest of the Poconos that I began thinking about doing something with the stumps from the trees that I removed, rather then just cutting the stump close to the ground. I thought it was a good idea to leave a memory of something that had been growing for 30 years or more. And so, I chose to make a mushroom, an item that was simple but yet would blend into the Pocono environment. Over time, the result has become better and better, and so has the number; well over 1000 sculptured mushrooms throughout the Pocono area. Frankly, they have become my trademark, and I am sure eventually, my legacy.

And so, as years have gone by, my reputation includes being a specialist in custom tree pruning and trimming, doing dangerous removals, and storm damage repair, and of course, sculpturing a free mushroom out of the tree stump.
