ELEMENTS OF STYLE finish / wood characteristics With its inspiration coming from the mission, and arts and crafts design movements, the woods and finishes of Modern Craftsman are integral to each piece’s overall appeal and style. Veneers are a grade A cathedral cherry combined with rustic maple, mahogany and mindi solids. The majority of designs, from the bedroom to the other living spaces, are available in Mink or Saddle. Dark, yet transparent, with soft charcoal highlights, Mink offers a pleasing, relaxed appearance. Saddle especially compliments the cherry wood tones, emphasizing them further with artistic distressing, creating a livable, flexible color. Tobacco and Driftwood are two accent finishes available on select pieces. Tobacco lends a rustic quality to the contemporary designs highlighted by a labor intensive chisel technique. On the pieces crafted from sungkai, Driftwood offers a complex, natural tone that is lighter in color. Artistic elements such as rasp, rock, worm hole and chiseling (skiving) are layered on to create complexity and personality. Additional distressing in the form of cow tail, spatter, fly speck, bruising and highlighting further each piece’s depth and authenticity. Finally, an application of wool wax and hand-rubbing lend each finished piece a familiar and relatable allure.

Simplicity is the key to the hand-finished appeal of Modern Craftsman’s straightforward bar pulls and knobs. Inspired by industrial fittings, but crafted with comfort in mind, each detail is further set apart by subtle rivets on the rosettes. Finally, an authentic oil-rubbed bronze finish completes the relaxed appeal of the designs.
Each piece of natural marble used in Modern Craftsman is unique. The characteristic swirls, vein lines and pattern variations are due to mineral impurities originally present in the limestone and also give marble its color. Consequently your marble will not be identical in color to the piece shown here. In addition, structural variations of the stone’s crystallization cause what appear to be hairline cracks. Like the color variations, the structural variations are not a defect but an important part of any marble’s unique character.

leather and its characteristics Modern Craftsman features only the finest top-grain leather that’s been aniline-dyed to give it a more supple texture, greater depth and a rich patina that only gets better with time. Gentle distressing adds to its relaxed and approachable appearance. Because leather is a natural product, both color and texture will vary slightly from hide to hide and even within the same hide. -100 INFRARED REMOTE READER The infrared remote reader transfers your remote control signals to your audio/video components even if they are positioned behind wood panel doors, eliminating the need to insert glass panels. The infrared reader includes a receiver with mounting block, an infrared repeater control unit with power cord and three emitters. Each emitter, when properly positioned on the interior of the case, will transfer your remote control signal to the audio/video components positioned on one shelf.
