Mini Fat Bag This pattern is based on the original Fat Bag pattern diagram, written by Samanta Maragno. All credit for original design goes to her. I made this written pattern for a smaller version of the original, because the original written pattern was not translated to English.

Supplies: 6.5mm (K) hook Around 150 yards of bulky (5) weight yarn (more if you want longer straps) Large button (if desired)

Beginning ch2 counts as the first hdc throughout the pattern, beginning ch1 does NOT count as the first sc.

Band Turn work so you can work along the long edge Row 1: Ch1, sc in side of same st, sc in each ch2 space along edge, sc in final stitch of this side, turn Row 2-5: Ch1, sc in each stitch across, turn. FO after Row 5. Join yarn in corner of second long side with right side facing, repeat Rows 1-5, but do NOT fasten off after Row 5. Turn piece to work along short edge Row 6: Ch1, sc in side of first 5 stitches, then sc in side of each row of band. Make 45 fsc (add more for longer strap), then sc along opposite edge of band and across the short end of bag and along edge of band (on the other side). Make 45 fsc (add same amount as added to other side if you want a longer strap), then slst to first sc of this row. Row 7-9: Ch1, sc in each st around, FO after Row 9. Sew gap at bottom of each strap, where you joined the fsc to the rest of the row.

Optional Button Flap Row 1: Attach yarn to fifth st from strap, ch1, sc in same st and next 3 sts, turn. Row 2-8: Ch1, sc in each st, turn. Row 9: Ch1, sc in same st, ch2, sc in last st, turn. Row 10: Ch1, sc in same st, 2 sc in ch sp, sc in last st, FO and weave in ends. Sew button on opposite side of bag, directly across from flap.
