JEB Little Creek-Fort Story Marine Mammal/Turtle Stranding Procedures
1. If a marine mammal (dolphin, porpoise, whale, seal, or manatee) or sea turtle is discovered on JEB, immediately contact the CDO: Working hours: 757-462-7385/86 (Quarterdeck) After hours: 757-438-3930 (CDO) 2. And then the environmental division 757-462-5350 or 757-462-5361 3.
CDO will immediately secure the area (if animal is dead secure above high tide line) and contact: a)
Virginia Aquarium Stranding Response Team: 757-385-7576 (Alive animals) or 757-385-7575 (Dead animals)

Regional Stranding Coordinator (Hotline: 1-866-755-6622)
Be prepared to supply location, species (if known), condition of animal (dead or alive), and contact number of person who will be near a phone. If dead, please secure animal above high tide line. 4. CDO will notify CNO N45 Washington DC (per OPNAVINST 3100.6J) via a Navy Blue in OPREP-3 Reporting System
