Hunter Warfield Porfolio 2016
Self-analytical evaluation
In this year of yearbook, I have played the part of Business and Senior ads editor. I believe I did display teamwork through out the year, by adapting to all the things wildly thrown at me from people. The whole staff has many things to do and I believe that I did help with things that they asked me for help with. My actual production skill has definitely improved since this year I was working hands on with spreads. Working hands on gave me the outlook that most of the editors have already experienced. I learned a lot of new things and how to work eDesign, It has really gave me better skills to display out in the field of actual work. Working on deadlines was generally the same as the past years of yearbook, but the deadlines seemed smoother than they were last year. I believe that the teams this year actually got their work done fast and on time giving us time to design and submit. My Journalism ethics have stayed the same since last year. They have always been to not plagiarize because that just ruins the yearbook, and always makes so much more work for the other staffers. I believe I was an asset the staff this year by getting my work done before it was needed in the case that we would need to submit in the spot of an unfinished spread. By having everything done earlier I could provide more help to the other staffers with whatever they need help with. I didn’t face many problems this year other than some problems with myself and if I wanted to continue yearbook. My greatest weakness has always and will always be my laziness, some days I cant motivate myself to get up and do my work. I am increasingly getting better at this though, I have noticed that I have pushed myself to do way better this year then I have been in previous years.. I would like to overcome this weakness next semester by continuing to push myself father then I usually do. If I continue to do this I should be a better person and will be a better asset to the people around me.
Reflection #1
The most significant work I have done for the yearbook this year is doing all of the senior ads. The job is easy but it does require attention and organization. I was able to get ahead in my work so that we were able to submit some early in place of other spreads that needed more work. The senior ads were slow at the start since no one was in a hurry to buy any, once we started advertising that people need to buy their ads soon or they would be able to get one is when the workload started to pick up. We went through the process of giving a deadline of Nov 14th but got the deadline extended a full month to Dec 14th Giving people more time to put their senior ads in and giving me more time to work on them. After the original deadline of Nov 14th was over is when people actually started to send in their senior ads, because they didn’t feel it was urgent until we told them that they might not be able to get one. This year I believe that we have sold a lot of senior ads, I don’t know if it was because of advertising but I believe we definitely sold more than last year.
