+918460027217 jeetkothadiyap@gmail.com jeet-k.com I am an architect and avid learner who is passionate about working with the art of space making, to design experiences by creating built environment. I believe that nature is the companion of architecture and the spatial experiences created with the amalgamation of both while keeping the user in mind is a complete design. The key highlight of my academic endeavours is my design thesis. It goes by the title ‘Architecture for Water’ which is demonstrated by designing a Museorial at Saputara, Dang.

architecture for water
demonstration by designing museorial of water at saputara, dang
DESIGN THESIS
The mention of architectural manifestation in the presence of water may form images of fantasy, romantic ambience, pathways for trolling around in one’s mind. However, here the intention is to create a space to make one engage and aware about the experiential aspects of water through the built environment. This architectural manifestation would be in the form of a Museorial in Saputara, Dang having tourists as a major user group. The centre is the hybrid of Museum and Memorial clubbed together. The purpose of a memorial is to ‘make us remember’ and that of museum is to ‘interpret for education of society’ - when clubbed together it could create a space to demonstrate awareness about the natural entity - water and educate through experiencing the attributes of water.
Research proves that one feels happier being near the water or even listening to the sounds of natural water forms. The museorial at Saputara is intended as public space for not just viewing the natural landscape of the surrounding, but to experience the same while having water as an aid. The journey will take one through the spaces for information about water, taking along the experience of feeling gratitude for water in the environment and then finally experiencing the attributes while being with water in the environment. The built spaces would be according to the attributes and behaviour of water. Hence, considering water as the central element, this thesis explores creating a built environment as a journey of sequential unfolding of spaces for experiencing the water’s attributes while being near, around or in it.
Museorial of Water is an architectural space designed as a journey of sequential unfolding of experiential aspects of water through the built environment. This journey of sequential unfolding tries to inform and make one remember about the qualitative aspects and attributes of water through the spaces created. It would be an inspirational, educative and contemplative journey for the visitors.
CONTEMPLATIVE REVERSE JOURNEY - The built is such that users would not exit through the same route from where they entered. The exiting route would be completely different, revealing all the possible views of the natural lake and forming giving a sense of contemplative aspect about the inspiration from water
LIVING AREA - Users who wish to live with the water, surrounded by natural landscape, can check in to the living area which is almost sunked in the natural water body of the site.
PAVILION OVERLOOKING LAKE - Between the bridge of therapeutic and living area, there is a space overlooking lake featuring cafeteria as a pause in the journey. Further it will connect the users to the living area and guide towards exit via roof plates.
The Journey Of Museorial You can only SEE the glimpse of water. Water GREETS you.
THERAPEUTIC ZONE - Now, the visitors are left with 3 choices. Therapeutic Zone - Living Area - Contemplation - Exit Living Area - Contemplation - Exit Contemplation - Exit
You EXPERIENCE the attributes of water - aurally, visually, tactilely.
GHAT - A GATHERING SPACE - Getting informed about various forms of water and their nature, user would be taken into the journey to then enjoy the beauty of the lake of Saputara and the natural landscape via boating where a gathering space on the other end is provided for their leisure time.
ATTRIBUTES OF WATER’S FORM - The built environment supporting water’s various natural forms is created through which the user would be able to experience the attributes form now on.

SOUVENIR SPACE - The platform looking towards the natural landscape and guided towards the exit of the Museorial, where visitors would be provided a Blue Marble as a souvenir. (source of inspiration for souvenir: Dr. Wallace J Nichols, Author of the book Blue Mind)
Earth looks like a blue marble when looked from a far distance. - Dr. Wallace J. Nichols
WATER AND POWER - A diorama of waterfall is created which a user would enter after travelling a path going downwards and towards darkness, which gives a sense of chaos in the prelude.
ARRIVAL - The site is surrounded with foliage of trees in which a concrete mass acts as a subtle contrast for the presense of a built form and presence of water over the roof of built provides acts as a gesture of glimpse of engagement with water.
ENTRANCE - It is a pathway of hall of cascades and a waterfall curtain as a gesture of greet by water.
ORIENTATION - Here, the visitors would be made clear about the activities of the Museorial and its purpose.
AQUARIUM - WATER AND LIFE - The real beauty truly associated with and dependent on water is below sea. This part would reveal the life associated with water and a shimmering water would guide the path.
WATER AND LANDFORM - A miniature experiential built journey through the undulating landform, where water is flowing as a gesture of streams is created. This area is with the support of screen playing land formation with the help of water.

BEAMS WITH WATER DISTRIBUTION PIPES Piped system from the roof is used to lift water upwards through roof, mechanically.
Grass Fertile Soil Insulating membrane Waterproofing membrane DRESSED STONE Locally available stone with the monolithic concrete is used as conctruction material for retaining ground and as a gesture of built with the quarry
MOVEMENT GUIDE Shimmering water flowing which is contained by the grass above, which acts as movement guide in the built environment.
The water that is pumped up through different intervals, would be finally collected via flowing through the roof of Entrance Water Hall into a pond. This water would be directed towards the vegetation on the site and rest will merge with the source itself.

Proposed Site : Saurashtra University. Area of site is about 2.4 hectors. On the North East side is road connecting to University which becomes approach to the site and green open space to overlook on the rising sun side. On the setting sun side i.e. south-west is a tributary connecting to Nyari river and Gayatri Temple beyond. Site has a nallah passing through it. There are many trees along the nallah and on other parts of the site. In neighbourhood, there are mix residential developments and has potential to be developed as eco-sensitive residential zone.
The brief was to design a space for the community of rag-picking sisters at Ahmedabad.
COMMUNITY CENTER

CABLE STAYED BRIDGE building construction and materials
To understand how a real cable stayed bridge works, the model was casted in Concrete as a part of workshop in Building Materials and Construction subject. The team members were Jeet K, Payal P, Siddharajsinh G.
PROCESS
UNDERSTANDING THE CONCEPT THEORETICALLY ------ HANDS ON
partially failed
After understanding the concept of how a Cable Stayed Bridge works, following model was made in order to satisfy the understanding. We observed that the materials used to make the model fulfill the concept Theoretically. But from construction point of view, the cables weren’t playing their role which lead to Deck not coming into Compression, and hence the bridge was not stable by itself.
achievement
After experimenting and identifying the failure point of system, we casted concrete elements and then joined them. The improvement came with the usage of appropriate material for desired object. Here, concrete provides self-load to the structure, and hence the cables came into Tension and the Deck came in Compression which resulted into stable Cable Stayed Bridge.

LEAKING PLASTIC
If one would see, one would observe, and then one would know, and if one would know one might contemplate upon the phenomenon. What We Do
What could Happen in near future
To Water Bodies due to plastic waste
The concern is to make public aware of what really is happening around them by installing an architectural piece of art with plastic balls floating over and plastic bottles leaking from it. Plastic balls suggest the plastic over Ocean which are visible to the naked eye. The tied plastic bottles which seem to be leaking - suggests that if we do not stop spreading the plastic (balls as seen above), we would be soon enough left with only plastic polluted water and no clean water would be left even for drinking purpose. The installation is meant to be placed at any place where there is garbage over water body but visible with the naked eye. Here, the site is located at the Lake of Saputara, Dang which is a tourist hub.
