Disciple now What are we doing?? This is a discipleship event, our goal is to help you grow close to God! You will be split into small groups for the weekend, and you’ll be staying in host homes in the area. There will be three small group sessions where we’ll study what it means to imitate God. Two large group sessions with a time of praise and worship. We’ll be volunteering at the Shores at Wesley Manor. 2 Hours of Bowling. Dinner on Saturday night at Old Country Buffet. And our weekend will wrap up with us attending the morning worship service at Second Cape May Baptist Church.
INFO: $50 per student for all weekend Register by January 9th and get a free t-shirt (you need registration form (page 2) & money to complete registration.) Last minute registration ends January 22nd Check the back for FAQ or use your smartphone to scan the QR code above.
FAQ for DNOW What is it? This weekend is basically a small group meeting on steroids. I know, weird description, but that's the basic premise. We want to get our students involved in discussion with one another about spiritual things, and that's what we're look to cultivate with our DNOW weekend.
What are you doing? We have a lot planned for this weekend, but here's a quick overview of our schedule. Friday night we'll have a kickoff meeting with students, leaders and parents where we'll introduce our topic for the weekend. Then we'll head to our host home for a small group session. On Saturday we'll wake up for session 2, then we're off to the Shores at Wesley Manor for a service project. Then our afternoon we'll have some fun and bowl for two hours before heading to dinner. Saturday night we'll be in our host homes for session 3. Sunday morning we'll wake up and head to church for our last large group session during our church's Sunday School hour. Then we'll go over and join our church body at our 10:00am worship service.
What is the cost and what does that include? The cost for the weekend is $50, and that includes everything they need for the weekend. All meals, student guide for small group study, transportation, and bowling. Also, if you register by January 9th you'll get a free Rooted t-shirt with your registration. (Anyone else can buy a rooted t-shirt for $10)
How are you splitting up the groups? We will have four groups... Group 1: Middle School Girls. Group 2: Middle School Boys. Group 3: High School Girls. Group 4: High School Boys.
What should I bring? Enough clothes for the weekend. Towel and toiletries. Their Bible and a pen. Sleeping bag and pillow.
What should I leave at home? This will be very similar to other weekend retreats we have, no cell phones, iPod, electronic gaming device, or anything listed on the behavior sheet.
What if I want to participate but have a conflicting schedule with sports or other activities? Our first and main preference is for you to attend the entire weekend. But, for example we do not want a 2 hour time conflict to prevent you from coming the entire weekend. You are free to leave for a set duration but only if you complete a "Time-away" form before the start of the weekend. Parents should also be aware that all student's vehicles will be left at church and if they have another commitment they will need to pick up their student and return them after.
