We are big fans of the Mel Stampz blog – she makes the most AMAZING craft projects with lots of free downloads to help you create them yourselves too. Mel made this beautiful craft project using the Jellypark dinosaur boy image. Isn’t is cute?! You can buy the image as a digital stamp from the Jellypark Store or as a real stamp from MFT Stamps. Pop along to her blog to follow the detailed tutorial and to download all the extra bits you need.

We would like to start featuring some of your cards in the magazine – so lets see some of your creations! We LOVE seeing what you make with our images here at Jellypark and we know that other crafters enjoy sharing and inspiring each other. Come and join our friendly group on Paper Craft Planet, post on our Facebook wall or email your pictures to Claire at jellypark@live.co.uk and let’s see what you are making – it could be you in the magazine next time! See our first Jellypark Friends Show and Tell on page xx

Soon you will be able to download digital stamps and scrapbook kits instantly from the Jellypark Store. We are working on updating the website to trial this new feature after a customer survey showed they really loved getting their images instantly so they can start crafting straight away! We may have to raise the price of the stamps a teeny bit (5p we think) but customers indicated that they would be happy with this for that extra benefit of instant access… 3

Making Pictures It probably is the best job in the world, I get to draw and paint all day and dip into my imagination to earn a living…I never forget just how lucky I am. I can’t remember a time when I didn’t spend most of my spare time scribbling on paper and colouring in so it was not a big surprise to those around me when I eventually made it my career. I took my time though, I left school at 16 and had a variety of jobs including insurance clerk, working in an advertising agency, nursery nurse (loved that), sports club leader and shop assistant while all the time keeping my art as a much loved hobby. Then I started a family, which I loved but there wasn’t much time for a few years to do much creating - it felt almost like I’d missed the boat for being a ‘proper’ artist. I still held a childhood dream though, illustrating a children’s book had always been a secret aim and if I was going to do it I really needed to pull my finger out. My boys were getting a bit older and suddenly there was more time to spare so I got out the paints and pencils again and drew and drew and drew. I nervously started to sell some paintings on the internet, first on Ebay then on my own website and gradually my confidence grew. I took the plunge one day and sent off a load of images to a big London artist’s agency and was beside myself when then emailed back that they though they could get me some work. Exciting and a bit terrifying to be honest, I wasn’t sure I could pull it off.

I was so nervous and made loads of mistakes early on, not understanding some of the terminology or quite how to go about things when little jobs came in for me. I was expecting to begin with odd pictures for greeting cards here and there (if I was lucky) but I quickly got a few book commissions and before I knew it I had half a dozen books to my name! Some were for a Spanish company and others for reading schemes so I never did get to see the final books. I did one book for Little Tiger Press in America though called I Love You All Year Long which I finally got a copy of. That was quite a moment…opening the parcel and holding in my hands the children’s book with ‘illustrated by Claire Keay’ written on it. Wow, childhood dream fulfilled there and then. Illustrating work has taken a bit of a back seat for a while now as I established Jellypark, which I created to sell prints, original artwork and digital craft supplies. I am loving doing the craft side of things, I have got to know so many lovely people. As I often say, I get such a kick out of seeing what craft people create with my images – it feels like we are collaborating together to make these cards !

Lend a Helping Hand… Want to know how you can help out a member of the crafting community and bag yourself some exclusive digital stamps? The internet means that crafters can connect all over the world and share their hobby together. A few weeks ago a blogger from Australia put a call out for help because her very good friend was in need and she is trying to raise fund to help this young family where the mother Lyndall is very poorly.

Many people have come forward to offer to sell cards, give prizes for a raffle and some companies have offered up digital stamps to sell to help to raise funds. You can buy some special digital stamps designed by Claire – not found anywhere else – amongst the collection so pop over and have a look. Why not treat yourself to some digital craft goodies and help out too?!

Click here to find out more about Lyndall and find out how you can join in giving her and her family a helping hand.
