Sarlat-la-CanĂŠda
On a tour of French towns and villages we stopped off at Sarlat. The old church had a glass lift going up the bell tower. Debbie, Dad and I went up and a tour guide in the lift told us about the history of the town. The three sisters went back the next day to shop.
8 km walk
Canoeing in the Dordogne, we rented canoes, one two-people and one three-people. The longest combination was Mum and Debs together, and me, Carrie and Dad. There was a race, but it’s still unclear who won (totally our team). Afterwards we got hot chips and headed home from the 10 km row.
We had dinner in a beautiful restaurant for the last night. I, as always, chose duck for the main course, and the adults had a sea bass and rice dish. Then we had desert. Words cannot describe this chocolatey heavan of a dish. Rich fondant with a fruity middle, on the side a portion of white chocolate ice cream and cookie. It just made your heart warm.
Leaving this GĂŽte and leaving France, we drove on to a B&B we had stayed at a few times before, just on the border. Then it was pretty much straight home. The aunts stayed for one more week and left on Friday.
We all miss you guys so much, Lots of love Jemma xx
