LORENZ ANGUS Welcome
Welcome to our 25th annual bull sale. This year not only marks a milestone for our sale but is also our 45th year in the Angus breed. Many things have changed over those years, the type of cattle, marketing options, our land base and the growth of our family. One thing that hasn’t changed is the quality, e ciency, and relevance of the Angus mother cow. However, when we purchased our rst Angus females, not everyone appreciated the Angus breed or saw the good in them like Dad and other breeders of that time period did – today the Angus breed is respected and relied on around the world and the Angus ‘brand’ is synonymous with quality from pasture to plate. It is our pleasure to work amongst the people that we get to in the beef industry, customers, neighbors, and fellow breeders alike.
This particular bull pen o ers more calving ease options than ever before, and without sacri cing performance or phenotype, thanks to some of the sires we utilized with big spread from birth to weaning. The Resilient sons make up the largest AI sire group, and they exemplify that small birth, calving ability combined with curve bending performance. He was used on both heifers and mature cows, and you will see many sons throughout the o ering with heifer friendly birthweights, above average weaning weights, and they will be the heaviest sire group on sale day. The Jackon sons are mostly on the younger end of the o ering, but they o er extra muscle and hair with traditional Angus heads and breed character. This will be the rst o ering of Homegrown sons; he was used on heifers and the sons o er breed leading calving ease and birthweight with added length of body. In terms of management and development, the bulls are weaned in Late September and put onto a piece of banked grass for the remainder of the fall, we introduce hay and oats to them while they are still grazing and they remain on a 5-acre pasture until the New Year. At this point they move into big pens that still allow for ample exercise and transition onto a silage based TMR. The bulls are handled lots and we feel that the docility on the entire bull pen is very good.
The bull pen is always available for viewing at anytime prior to the sale, videos of each lot will be posted to DLMS.ca in late March. If you have questions regarding the o ering, we are always happy to have a discussion, please feel free to reach out to us. The replacement heifers from Prairie Creek Meadow Ranch will be available for viewing the afternoon before the sale and sale day or at their home ranch prior to that. They will be the same broody, powerful, well-developed type of heifers that Herb & Crystal always o er. We look forward to seeing you on sale day or visiting with you beforehand.
Please consider this your invitation to join us for the 25th edition of our Bull Sale on Tuesday, April 2, at the ranch.

A low birth, high performing calving ease option here. Born at 70lbs and weaned o of a 2-year-old at 775lbs with a weaning index of 116. This Resilient son is a longer made, bigger scaled bull that combines predictable calving ease on both sides of his pedigree, without sacri cing growth and performance. His grandmother produced here until she was 13. This guy has been special all along. He is a little more moderate and stouter made than most of the Resilient sons. We hold the ‘J’ model cows in high regard here and believe that when they raised their rst calves last year, they were the best group of 2-year-olds we ever produced, and this bulls dam, 77J is at the very top of that group. With a weaning index of 112 and a yearling index of 121, he combines great phenotype with above average calving ease and performance.

Real nice type and pattern on this calf, backed by very strong maternal pedigree. We only have a couple of Breakout sons, they are the right type and very complete, no extremes in terms of birthweight or performance and very fault free phenotype. We admired the foot quality and soundness of May Way Breakout when we saw him at about 7 years of age, at this point it appears like this calf is going to have that same foot quality. There is a lot good to say about this cow family for production, feet and udders going back generations. 6E has been a great producer and we are calving the rst embryo calves out of her this year.
