Welcome to our second annual online sale. Join us in an exciting online event, showcasing three progressive Shorthorn programs. The group has been working together to create cattle that can go out and perform in the commercial environment as well as the show ring.
2023 was our first annual online sale and we cannot thank everyone enough for supporting us by attending the open house, bidding or buying. We truly do appreciate everyone for helping get this sale off the ground. On offer this year we have selected 8 open heifer calves that come to you halterbroke, started on feed and ready to go whichever direction you’d like with them. Hang a halter on them and get them in the ring, or admire them in your cowherd and be productive mother cows.
We invite you to attend our open house event which will be taking place on Saturday, September 14th at the Kinsella Ag Grounds, Kinsella, AB. We will have the sale animals on display starting at 10:30am along with a lunch starting at 11:30am and a presentation put on by Powerhouse Embryonics at 1:00pm.
Regards,
The Northern Roses Group

Junior Incentive Program
We believe strongly in developing the Junior’s in the livestock industry, be it purebred or commercial producers. Supporting the Alberta Junior Shorthorn program has been near and dear to all of our hearts. We love seeing the junior cattle producers succeed and grow in knowledge, hoping that they soon surpass us as seedstock producers.
As a group we’ve come up with the Junior Incentive Program that we will be putting on as “The Northern Roses Group”. This incentive will help assist Junior members to succeed and become involved in the Alberta Junior Shorthorn program as well as the 4-H program with their Northern Roses purchases.

LINGLEY LIVESTOCK
Genesis 15M
Genesis 15M is an incredibly hard heifer to part with. She comes out of the core of our replacement pen. Her full sister is currently in production in the herd, and is making us extremely excited. Just like her sister, she possesses so much natural muscle shape, excellent bone and foot structure, beautiful extension through that front end. A female that is extremely outcross to most Canadian bloodlines. Take note that she goes back to the Eionmor Ruby 48Z cow, a cow with a production record that is one to admire.
15M is sired by Friction, a bull that does not need an introduction. We have let go of very few 2F daughters because they flat out work. The more we have seen the 2F daughters produce, the fewer we want to let go!
Vet checked and verified. Genetic defect testing pending.
6B’S GUARDIAN ET
LINGLEY’S GENISIS 20G
EIONMOR RUBY 48Z
LINGLEY’S Dyna Countess 27M
These are the types of female you do not let go of... but here we are letting this one go. 27M exemplifies what we are trying to add to our Shorthorn program. Massive rib shape, body and muscle expression all while maintaining her femininity. A female that is extremely tidy fronted and pretty through that front end.
WEEBOLLABOLLA THEODORE T85
LINGLEY’S FRICTION 2F SJ CO MISS PLATINUM 3D
STUDER’S DYNAMIC 56D
GLENROTHES DYNA COUNTESS 3H
GLENROTHES COUNTESS 19C
Her dam was purchased, sight unseen, from Glenrothes as a heifer calf and she’s all they said she was and more. 3H has matured into a female this breed can use a lot more of! A beautiful uddered female that has optimal teat size and very tight suspension. A huge thank you goes out to the Brown family for letting her go and making such an impact in our own herd.
Sired by Friction, this is a female that will carry on with performance, massive pelvis structure and sound made type that will last.
This female is a true front pasture female that can make it in the show ring and excel as a mother cow.
Vet checked and verified. Genetic defect testing pending.
LINGLEY’S Genesis 31M
A fresh pedigree on this plus heifer! Sired by NLF Boom Hand 204K, a bull we purchased an interest in from Northline Farms, who goes back to the Hill Valley Reckoning 931 bull who is highly sought after in the Black Angus circle.
Genesis 31M has caught our eye since the day she was born. She is incredibly correct with massive rib shape. She’s a moderate made female that’s going to just keep getting better and better as you develop her. Be sure to check out her feet at the open house, they don’t get much better made.

Her dam, Genesis 16K, is a combination of genetics that we’ve been progressing towards. She is off of a Guardian daughter and sired by our walking sire, Friction. One to watch in the future and you have an opportunity to get a piece of her. 31M is one of those heifers that strikes you and gets you excited! Hang a halter on this one and get her into some shows!

RAMBLIN RANCH
Mayflower 3M is a flashy roan heifer that has received a lot of attention from our farm visitors! She has balance, look and functionality. 3M is smooth shouldered, long bodied, deep sided heifer that has the ability to move out. You can expect 3M to be a sound, hard working mamma cow with an excellent udder, good feet like her dam when she hits production. In the meantime, she is fancy enough that you can take her out and show her off!
3M’s dam is a fantastic mom who is extremely attentive to her calves and has done well with in our program. Her sire Hatfield Greg 628K is a unique pedigreed bull that is adding length and lbs to his calves.
3M’s is a female that we think will make a great show heifer... and an even better cow!
Genetic testing pending
Maggie May 17M is a complete heifer with a long level hip, and structural integrity. She has a ton of balance from end to end. Although, she might be on the greener side, she has all the right parts and pieces.
17M is backed by great maternal lines, the Maggie’s are moderate framed cows that are sound, fertile, heavy milkers with exceptional udders and good feet. They are later maturing cattle that grow into productive cows that last well into their teens.
She is sired by JSF Lattimer 137K and is the first heifer to be offered by him. Lattimer himself is a wide based soft made bull that also has a unique set of out cross genetics here is Canada. This just adds to what this heifer has to offer when she hits production.
If you are looking for a halter boke, quiet, and easy to work with. This heifer has potential written all over her this is one to have a good look at.

WASKWEI CREEK RANCH
The name “Mustang Sally” came with ease when registering 3M. A little sass and a little pop is written all over this sweetheart.
Ourselves and Lingley Livestock purchased her dam out of the 2022 All Star Classic sale from the wonderful folks at Lilac Lane Farm. Not only was she one of the quietest, she was one of the flashiest hfrs of the sale and came with a unique pedigree to back her up. 18K has worked hard all summer raising her first calf and what a bang up job she has done.
We chose JSF Manhattan 194J ET for 18K not only for his calving ease but his eye appeal and shape. We feel we chose correctly and that this pair clicked well. Manhattan has made his way into herds across Canada and we are happy with what he has given us.
3M is going to be a fun one to watch mature and grow over the winter and we are excited for whoever picks this little lady up!
Moonshine is a flashy roan that we have had our eyes on since she was born. Her dam Waskwei Gold Digger 2G is a big broody Crush 12c daughter that has a beautiful udder and is one of the most sure-footed cows we have. 2G has had a variety of bulls put on her and has layed down and given us a 90lb plus calf with no issues every year. A heck of a good mama. We are excited to see what she gives us next year from Lingleys John Kinney 7K. This is our last calf crop from Creekside Boosted 16H ET. He has left his mark on our herd and we were fortunate to have him. His calves off of our Crush 12C daughters have been in the replacement pen both in the commercial and purebred herds. A really nice cross.

7M has the potential to be a front runner producer in anyones herd. Cross her right and she will give you beautiful, functional daughters that you will keep year after year, or bull calves that will end up passing on her assets to his future progeny. 7M is a hfr you can AI to a variety of different bulls and have the confidence she will give you something special. “Moonshine” is a tough one to let go.
Marshmallow will be the greenest hfr in this year’s offering from us, as she was meant to be in our keep pen. She is a replacement pick for our original lot that we decided to keep back and give some more time.
Her dam Paintearth Pearl 97B was purchased by R over Y Ranch as a bred in the 4’s Company Sale from Paintearth Shorthorns. I don’t think there was a single calf of hers that didn’t get put in his replacement pen when he owned her and we can see why. Big, deep and wide in a roan pattern makes 97B hard to miss in the pasture. With her being 10yrs old, we were planning on keeping her hfr calves so letting this one go hurts. Clay and I have had discussions about flushing 97B and letting go of one of her hfrs just solidifies our conversation. We would love to have a whole herd of her type!
“Marshmallow” got weaned, pulled off pasture, halter broke and put on show feed within 24hrs and took it all in stride, never skipping a beat. She is only going to get better.
