General Douglas MacArthur declared Manila a "Open City" to prevent more carnage and devastation from the coming Japanese soldiers in the country to start World War 2. This act of aggression shows that Japan will pay little attention to humanitarian concerns as it pushes through Asia. General MacArthur was likewise determined on that day to evacuate his forces from Luzon to the Bataan Peninsula and relocate his headquarters to the little island of Corregidor The primary goal is to shield the city's population and cultural landmarks from a potentially futile battle.

Many survivors from San Fernando died in POW camps due to illness, maltreatment, and deprivation The Freeport Area of Bataan is located at Mariveles, a former fishing village that is now the island's industrial hub.

Puerto Princesa, Palawan

The tragic mass execution "Palawan Massacre" occurred on December 14, 1944, at the Plaza Cuartel in Puerto Princesa, Palawan On this historical site, one can find the restored ruin of a WWII garrison where American prisoners of war (POWs) were tortured, doused with gasoline, and burned alive A total of 139 POWs were burned to death inside the narrow trenches, with only eleven of the POWs miraculously managed to escape. As a tropical paradise, Puerto Princesa was named after an actual royalty, Princess Asunción. When the princess suffered an untimely death, the Queen changed the name to Puerto de la Princesa, which was eventually reduced to its name today

On February 3, 1945 a small force of American soldiers forced their way through the UST main campus due to fear of mass execution of prisoners The Japanese then took refuge inside the education building, during the standoff several Japanese soldiers and internees were killed. The next day the Americans agreed to accompany the Japanese soldiers as they release their prisoners A missionary by the name of Ernest Stanley was the mediator between the Americans and Japanese during the standoff (Philippine Internment n d)

The Island of Corregidor was an island at the mouth of Manila Bay that served as a stronghold for the u s armed forces Although General Wainwright, the commander of U.S. Armed Forces, offered to surrender the island to reduce casualties, Japanese General Homma wanted a undisputed victory. On February 16, 1945, the U S Armed Forces returned to Corregidor Island with Operation TOPSIDE that had U.S. airborne troops parachute in to the island. This was a crucial part of the race between the Americans and Japanese to the capital of the Philippines, Manila. Today, the ruins of the island serves as a military memorial to the American, Filipino, and Japanese soldiers.

On the evening of August 21, 1971, two grenades were thrown at a Liberal political event in Manila's famous Plaza Miranda, killing nine people and nearly wiping out the then-top opposition's guns There was a backlash against FM, and he blamed the communists as a further justification for imposing martial law As the Philippine Treasury Secretary from 1833 until 1854, José Sandino y Miranda is honored with the naming of Plaza Miranda

A justification for martial law. Mijares included it in his book "The Conjugal Dictatorship", where Marcos instructed Enrile to "Make it look good, better if someone gets wounded or dies. Ensure that it appears in the late news." Enrile would admit 14 years later that it was staged during the February 1986 uprising. wakwak greenhils is famous for the exclusive leisure resort complex that covers almost 60% of the area, the wack wack gold and coutnry club.

As the night fell on the 23rd day of September 1972, the voice of Ferdinand Marcos rang across the nation’s radios and televisions as he declared that the country was now under the Martial Law (Martial Law Museum, n d ) This formidable event has been immortalized through the pictures of the late president seated behind his desk in the Malacañang Palace. A lesser known fact about Marcos was that he was obsessed with numerology Despite the Proclamation No 1081 being declared on September 23, the document that placed the country under Martial Law was antedated to September 21 because it is divisible by 7, Marcos’ lucky number (SpotPH, 2014)

Ninoy Aquino International Airport

In August 21, 1983, the day Ninoy Aquino returned to the Philippines from the United States in the Manila International Airport (MIA) Upon leaving the aircraft he was in, gunshots were heard and the lifeless body of Ninoy Aquino tumbled down the stairs

The assassination of Ninoy Aquino triggered a chain of events that would eventually lead to overthrowing the Marcos Regime. The assassination would soon be remembered as the event that caused the Filipinos to seek for freedom and justice. The Manila International Airport (MIA) would then be renamed as the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) on August 17, 1987 by the Republic Act No. 6639 in order to the honor Ninoy Aquino.

On the 9th of February 1986, two days after the Snap Elections, enraged vote tabulators simultaneously walked out from the PICC Plenary Hall. These volunteers have noticed their superiors manipulating the votes, which led to them abandoning their posts.
