TIME TO CELEBRATE!
You’ve said the “I do’s,” kissed the bride, and now it’s time to party! You want your reception to be unforgettable. The venue itself, the food, the ambiance, and the overall guest experience determines just how your reception will be remembered for years to come. Where to host your reception is a huge, day-defining decision. There’s so much to consider. Luckily, we’re here to help!
SET THE MOOD. For a sensuous pause before a high-energy party, have a small jazz quartet set the tone with a wine and micro-beer tasting served with cheese selections.
PARTY RENTALS
every last detail
Depending on where your reception will be, you may find yourself in need of certain items not provided by your reception facility. The term “party rentals” covers a variety of rental items including linens, chair covers, tables and chairs, tents, dance floors, fountains, plants, props and theme decorations.
If you are holding your reception in a hotel, then of the items listed above may be included in the overall cost. The need for various rental items increases when the event is held outdoors or at an event facility where you are required to provide your own caterer.
Before contacting a rental company, have the following information available.
• Your event date, time and location
• Any items provided by the facility: tables, chairs, portable bar, and so on.
• The number of guests attending
• Exactly what items are provided by the caterer: glass, flatware, china, buffet linens, and so on.
• Any special requirements or themes
Find out in advance what the delivery, setup, pick-up and payment policies are. Be sure to coordinate with the facility manager to ensure the location will open when your rental company drops off your order.
From the proper tent size for an outdoor wedding, to the portable dance floor complete with tables and chairs, a good rental company will work closely with you to determine exactly what and how many rental items will be needed to make your guests comfortable and your special occasion a complete success.
You may have heard the expression. “It’s your day, do it your way.” While this is true, it’s also easy to take this concept too far. Here are a few tips about being a gracious bride:
UNDERSTAND YOUR GUESTS’ PERSPECTIVE. Awkward gaps of time or long distances between the ceremony and reception are difficult for guests. Try to craft your schedule with guests in mind.
JUMP ON THOSE THANK YOU NOTES. Guests look forward to hearing if you liked their gift! Write a personalized note and respond as quickly as possible.
GIVE OTHERS GRACE. Know that weddings are an emotional time for your close relatives and friends, and there can be unexpected emotions such as grief or anxiety. Give them grace and, maybe, a warm hug.

SAY I DO
UNIQUE CEREMONIES
special locations
Unique sites can help create an interesting and memorable event. Popular locations require advance booking usually six months to a year before the wedding date. Most require a 50 percent deposit when you reserve them with the balance due seven to 10 days before the event. Refundable security deposits are usually required, and some facilities may request a special liability insurance policy.
In selecting a unique reception site, consider the different restrictions regarding food, alcohol, smoking, music and hours of operation. Some locations may require that you use an in-house caterer or one chosen from a preferred list. Some sites will provide tables and chairs, but many require that you or your caterer provide your own furniture,
as well as linens and china. Check the kitchen facilities as many sites have only a small kitchen or require that caterers bring a tent for food set up and service.
Keep in mind that not all unique sites will allow you to have your reception inside the facility. Often historic homes are available for your guests to tour, but the event itself must be held in the gardens. If that is the case, be sure to include money in your budget for a tent to accommodate your guests in case of rain.
Make sure your special site is appropriate for your wedding needs and fits your unique style. A historic home may not be able to accommodate hundreds of guests while a formal museum might not be right for a very casual wedding.

Including your dog on your wedding day!
Dogs are a big part of our families and let’s be honest, sometimes they are the center! So, you want to include them in your big day but you aren’t sure how. Here are some ideas about how you can incorporate your fur baby in your big day.
AT THE CEREMONY
The location is key. An intimate backyard wedding is probably the perfect setting to include your dog front and center at the wedding party. At home in their own back yard, it’s most comfortable for them, even with a large group of guests. A county or state park that rents space may also a good choice, you know your pet and you are the best judge of how they will interact and react to a busy day with lots of strangers who are all going to want to pet them!
AT THE RECEPTION IN SPIRIT
There are plenty of ideas to include Fido in your wedding reception! Here are a few fun places to sneak your pup-star into your reception:
On top of the wedding cake: There are so many cute options out there online and in party stores. From personalized silhouettes to custom dog figurines that stand on top or peek out under a ruffle of frosting.
Signage: Include your pet on the bar menu, table numbers, welcome signs as an illustration or image.
Other Ideas: Doggy bag favors, set up a donation table to your favorite animal rescue, large cutout of fido’s face to include as a photo booth prop.
PHOTOS SAY IT ALL
Whether you include them in your engagement photo, your save the date announcement, table numbers or your wedding portraits, all are great opportunities to capture your beloved friend in your wedding celebration memories.

LAID PLANS
help from the pros
Getting your wedding exactly the way you want it is no easy task. It can take numerous calls and visits to dozens of businesses before you find the best ones to fit your needs and budget.
Sometimes finding specialized or hardto-find services like a stretch Rolls Royce, an authentic mariachi band, or a horse and carriage can be a seemingly impossible task. Enter the wedding planner: the person who does the legwork, makes the choices according to your desires, and then contracts those services for you for a fee.
The benefit of working with a planner or a consultant is that you will be dealing with one person. Once you sit down and explain your wishes, a planner can put together a custom package with each service exactly the way you want it.
Just think how easy it would be to work with and explain to one person your reception, cake, photography, video and transportation requirements.
A wedding planner can smooth the way for you to focus on the things that are really important to you. You’re still the idea person behind the wedding, but your planner is a level-headed, knowledgeable source of information and expertise who is there for the sole purpose of helping you make your wedding the best it can be.
Planning your wedding doesn’t need to be a chore. If you’re not the detail-oriented type, then hire someone whose job it is to take care of the details for you. You’ll find the convenience well worth the fee, and the peace of mind you’ll have will be invaluable.

SELECTING THE PERFECT NECKLINE
sweetheart
This heart shaped strapless look is a perfect option for fuller chested brides as it accentuates the décolletage. Shorter brides look good in this heart shape as it makes the torso appear longer.
halter
The halter wraps around the neck exposing a bride’s shoulders. This look is best on taller brides who have broader shoulders.
v-neck
The V-neckline can range from a simple, modest V shape sitting just below the collarbone to a deep, sexy plunge. This look is best for the average busted girl. The larger the chest, the smaller the V.
off-the-shoulder
An off the shoulder gown creates the perfect silhouette to flatter collarbones, shoulders, and upper arms. This neckline is especially attractive on medium to full chested women.
illusion
The illusion neckline features a strapless gown with either a sweetheart, straight or curved neckline with a sheer fabric covering the décolletage to the neck. Most illusions form a halter or bateau line, but give the appearance of a strapless.
bateau
The gentle curve of the bateau neck follows the shape of the collarbone almost to the shoulders. This shape is especially good for petite brides with lovely collarbones.

LET’S HEAR IT FOR THE BOYS
10 tips to looking good
The groom’s formalwear selection will depend upon many things: his coloring and build, the bride’s and bridesmaid’s dress color and style, the season, time of day and personal taste. Here are a few things to remember when choosing what your man will wear.
• Darker colors have a slimming effect.
• Ties, cummerbunds or suspenders that are the same color as the bridesmaid’s dresses bring the wedding party together.
• If the men in the wedding party are identically dressed, then you may wish to set the groom apart. A slightly different boutonniere or neckwear accomplishes this effectively.
• Tuxedos should be reserved three months in advance and all measurements taken at least three weeks prior to the wedding. Additionally, all the men should try their tuxedos on a few days before the wedding for any last minute adjustments.
• Out-of-town groomsmen can have their measurements taken at a men’s formalwear store near them and then forwarded to the formalwear store where you have reserved your tuxedos.
• Rented formalwear usually includes a jacket, vest or cummerbund, pants, suspenders, shirt, cufflinks, studs and a tie.
• Usually, shoes are rented from the same store to maintain consistency.
• Find out when the tuxedos may be picked up and when they must be returned.
• Make sure that if the groom is planning to get a haircut, he gets it at least two weeks before the wedding.

WEDDING ACCESSORIES
innovative engraved ideas
Even the most favored wedding guests won’t have memories as vivid as the wedding couple’s remembrance. However, there are warm ways to remind family and friends of the epic day you all shared. Engraved wedding accessories commemorate your happiness.
Let your imagination run down the list of festive wedding items. Any or all gifts can also be personalized and given away. Cake knives, servers, even toasting glasses are innovative alternatives to keepsakes like cake toppers and vases. Or, you may wish to honor only special guests with an engraved remembrance.
Culinary keepsakes can include candy trays from the reception table, or individual candy packs full of mints, almonds and assorted sweets. Chocolate roses can rise out of personalized wrappings. A bubbly option is
engraving small sparkling wines, or miniature liquor bottles all of which you can buy by the case or even shot glasses. There are also numerous ideas for coasters and drink koozies that can be engraved with the couple’s names and wedding date as a lasting memory.
A lasting literary remembrance is a poem composed for the day, and imprinted on scrolls, napkins or matchbooks. Satin rose buds full of rice or birdseed can be porcelain or ceramic, and custom-fired with names and dates in gold. Your personal message may also be etched into glassware, brass, pewter or silver plating.
More modern engraved ideas include cutting boards, holiday ornaments, and even fans for the hot summer weddings! The opportunities to customize are truly endless.

Through decades of evolving wedding traditions and styles, certain things remain constant like a bride’s white dress and gorgeous flowers to adorn the day. Though we think of flowers as an accent, they’re so much more at a wedding. Flowers help define a wedding’s colors, theme, and mood.
FLOWER PRESERVATION. After your wedding, look into ways to preserve your flowers via drying, pressing, painting, or resin.

FLOWERS
If possible, book a florist 8 to 10 months before your wedding. Your goal is to find someone who is organized, professional, and whose style and personality meshes with your own. Know your wedding colors and ceremony and reception locations. If you have a picture of your wedding dress and any fabric swatches from the bridesmaid dresses, bring those along as well. Have a budget in mind.
Flowers that bloom during the month of your wedding will be more affordable and will last longer than those that are out of season. What’s on trend? Loose, natural, cascading bridal bouquets and dried floral elements with gorgeous texture. Beyond bouquets for the bridesmaids and boutonnieres for the groomsmen, also consider easy corsage bracelets and pocket boutonnieres for other important people.
There’s an endless array of options for floral decor: footed pedestals brimming with blooms, bunches of wildflowers, assorted small vases with single stems, nature-inspired elements, hanging installations, floral backdrops for photo-ops, and so much more. Use your imagination for one-of-a-kind centerpieces and scene-setters. Run any ideas past your florist so they can help you refine your vision and create an unforgettable ambiance.
Whatever your desired wedding theme and mood, by collaborating with a professional florist, you’re sure to have the flowers of your dreams. Work together, but always remember to trust your florist’s expertise. In doing so, your wedding flowers will be the envy of all.

PHOTOGRAPHY
After months of planning down to the very last detail, the day you’ve always dreamed of will seem to come and go in a blur. That’s why quality photography is a must! Photographers generally fall into one of three categories: Documentary (candid, spontaneous shots), portrait (classic, posed shots), or fine art/edgy (dramatic, artistic shots).
Browsing local photographers’ websites is the quickest way to get a feel for the talent in your area. You can also collect referrals from friends and review local wedding magazines and websites. Beware of amateur photographers with limited real-world experience. Choose someone with a strong portfolio of quality work, testimonials from happy clients, the right gear, well-thought-out contingency plans, and a professional attitude.
When you meet with photographers, ask to see an entire wedding album. Have a critical eye: Did they capture all the shots you’re hoping for? Are the images clear? How’s the composition and lighting?
When you finally choose a photographer, get everything included in the package in writing. When is payment due? Will there be a backup camera? When can you expect to see proofs and final prints? What’s the contingency plan should your photographer fall ill?
If there are friends and family that you want to be sure to snap a photo with or a particular time in the ceremony or reception that you want captured, it helps to put that in writing as well. Download our Ultimate Planner online at premierbride. com/planning where you’ll find a list of questions to ask your photographer and a checklist of can’t-miss moments.

You’ve hired professional photographers, caterers, musicians, and videographers to make your wedding day an unforgettable one. Don’t overlook everyone’s favorite pro: the bartender!
Not only can you count on knowledgeable, speedy drink service for your guests, but a professional bartender will handle the nitty gritty, like the bar’s inventory and shopping list. You won’t have to trouble yourself with glassware, ice, mixers, or garnishes — just sit back, relax, and enjoy your professionallypoured cocktail.
But it’s more than meticulous drink mixing: Like other wedding pros, bartenders are artists. Drinks are garnished just-so, and they’re able to craft cocktails based on individual guest’s preferences. You can also
work with your bartender to create one or more signature drinks for your wedding.
Before hiring a professional bartender for your wedding, do your research. First, inquire with your venue and caterer. Some have restrictions on who’s allowed to serve alcohol on site. Others require that the venue or caterer provide the alcohol, as opposed to purchasing it off site.
How many bartenders do you need? Check your guest count. A general rule is 75 people per bartender. When budgeting, figure two to three drinks per person during cocktail hour and one drink per person, per hour, for the rest of the night.
To determine whether or not a professional bartender is the right fit for your wedding, meet with a professional near you!
Remember, being appreciative and a personal thank you note go a long way, too!
A
a good first impression
You’ve chosen the perfect dress. Your hair is just right and your makeup is ideal! You have planned everything right down to the color of your nails to create the perfect impression for your wedding day. However, you may have overlooked the most important feature of all, YOUR SMILE!
Have you ever seen a wedding portrait without a smiling bride and groom? Isn’t your smile one of the single most important features that should be just right? For most people, an appealing smile is the ultimate first impression. A dental survey found that nearly 50 percent of the people asked would like to make some improvement to their smile.
Changing the color of your teeth to a lighter, brighter white is the most requested improvement and the most convenient. Without a major investment of time, money or discomfort, you can safely whiten your teeth.
If your teeth are not straight, have always been a source of embarrassment, and stop you from smiling, then do consider more extensive work. Yes, there is a greater cost factor, but for most, it’s a decision they never regret and wished they had made sooner. There are many options your cosmetic dentist can offer. These treatments are virtually pain free, and best of all, permanent.
You now have that dazzling smile that you have always wanted to make your wedding day absolutely perfect, and best of all, the change will last long after the champagne toast is given and the rose petals are tossed. Just think what a grand memory your photographs will make with your new bright dazzling smile.
VIETNAM oneymoo
This popular, must-see travel destination has it all. Known for its beaches, culture, outstanding food and friendly people, it’s also one of the most cost-effective locations for traveling. Everything from lodging, transportation and food, to custom clothing, is affordable. It is a communist country, but public opinion regarding the US is very favorable.
This popular, must-see travel destination has it all.
Shaped like a stretched-out letter S, Vietnam is long and offers different areas to explore. If choosing between regions of Vietnam, your lifestyle, interest and tastes will determine the location. Climate is also a consideration as Northern Vietnam is cooler, has damp winters and hot dry summers. As you head south, expect a more tropical climate.
Getting around Vietnam can be done comfortably and very inexpensively by bus and train with reclining seats and ample leg room.
CUISINE
The food in Vietnam is delicious and diverse. Don’t miss out on the street food that’s easy to enjoy on little plastic stools located on the sidewalks.
One of the cultural differences between the regions is food. In the north, expect ethnic Vietnamese. It bears many of Vietnam’s signature dishes (such as Phở and Bún chả). The cuisine is perceived as simplistic in flavors’ but complex in ingredients
Central Vietnamese cooking is distinct from the cuisines of both the Northern and Southern regions, using many small side dishes that are more complex and trend to be spicier with a flair for presentation.
Southern Vietnam cuisine has been influenced by the southern indigenous Cambodians and Chinese immigrants preferring more sweet and sour flavors in many dishes.
HISTORY
Located in the Northern region, Hanoi offers a traditional culture and historical Vietnamese experience and shouldn’t be missed. The Old Quarter is a great place for visitors to stay. It’s an active area to wander around, eat street food, rest at a café and of course, shop. Ho Kiem Lake in the center of the city. Other cultural places
include the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum where Ho Chi Minh, the main proponent of Communism, is embalmed. Other cultural places to visit include Tran Quoc Pagoda, The Temple of Literature, and One Pillar Pagoda.
Da Nang is the central region hub for the area and Hue is an ideal city for the history buff. You’ll need at least a few hours to explore the UNESCO-recognized Imperial City. Then wander through the various palaces, the Thien Mu Pagoda and Khai Dinh Tomb.
Hoi An is another beautiful destination. The picturesque preservation of the Ancient Town, with its yellow buildings, cobblestone roads and colorful lanterns, make it easy to see why it received the UNESCO World Heritage Site recognition. Watch out for the cyclos (part bicycle-part carriage) passing by on the narrow roads. Cars and motorbikes are not allowed.
Stay into the night, as the streets illuminate with multi-colored silk lanterns around the walking area. Ride a boat along the Thu Bon River and release your own candle lantern in the waters for good luck.
The largest city in Southern Vietnam is Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) and a fabulous place to spend a couple days. Even though it’s a bit crowded with people and motorbikes, there are so many good places to eat, shop, and also learn more about Vietnam history. Frenchinfluenced architecture is visible everywhere and it has many iconic landmarks.
SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE
The list could go on and on. From Tan Lap Floating Village, an eco-tourism site surrounded by the cajuput forest and mangroves, to the network of Cu Chi underground tunnels used during the Vietnam War. Whether you’re into culture, history, landscape, beaches or food, Vietnam has it all. Add in affordability and it’s irresistible.

TRADITIONS THAT DON’T SPEAK TO YOU. New traditions start every day. If you want to wear a pink dress, wear a pink dress. You might ruffle some feathers of the traditionalists in your family but if it doesn’t make your guests uncomfortable, it will probably have zero impact.
BRIDAL SHOW AND TELL
everything in one place
The groom has proposed; you’ve accepted. Now the planning begins. The only problem is that you and your groom probably work full-time jobs and have hundreds of day-today errands and responsibilities. So where do you find the time to plan a wedding?
A bridal show affords couples the opportunity to meet photographers, florists, caterers, bakery representatives, musicians, DJs and many other wedding professionals all conveniently under one roof. These shows also provide the opportunity to sample wares, view vendors’ work and compare your level of comfort with other vendors you may already be considering.
Many bridal shows feature fashion shows where the latest in men’s formalwear, bridesmaid’s dresses, and bridal gowns are presented. It is a good idea to bring a note pad and pencil so you can take notes on your favorite dresses, tuxedos and the stores that offer them.
Bridal shows range in size from 30 to 200 exhibitor booths. They normally take place on weekends. In addition to fashion shows, food samples and entertainment are also featured. There are numerous door prizes and contests to enter so bring stick-on labels with your name, address, wedding date and email address. Consider a special wedding email address that can be deleted after your wedding date to make registering for prizes easier. Local bridal shows generally advertise on the radio, in bridal magazines, and in the newspaper. Local merchants, especially bridal salons, have information on shows in your area as well.

Sharing the Cost
Willingness and ability should always be taken into account when negotiating who pays for each expense. Use these traditional guidelines for some basic guidance, but don’t be afraid to break the “rules!” Everyone should be comfortable with their share and nothing is ever set in stone.
