The time has come to begin your fittings (how exciting!)

I will see you for a fitting roughly every two to three weeks depending on both of our schedules. I am flexible with appointments but prefer to keep them on a Friday or Saturday between 10am and 3pm or Thursday evening between 3pm and 7pm. I will let you know as soon as I can if I need to change an appointment with you, as I know you will too. My contact details are at the back of the guide if you need them. MEASUREMENTS

THIRD FITTING

I recommend wearing close fitting clothes that are comfortable, you do not have to strip down for this appointment. If you have your wedding shoes please bring them but don’t stress if you don’t as you wont really need them until your third fitting. If you would like to try on a sample of your gown again please let me know so I can allow more time together.

At this fitting your gown will start looking like, well, a gown! It will have its skirt on and may even have lining in it. You will need your bra and bridal underwear for this fitting and it is essential to have your shoes as well. This is the best appointment to bring family and friends to as it is a little more exciting than the first two.

Allow 20 mins for this fitting. FIRST FITTING At this fitting I will have a toile of your bodice, which is made in calico, fitted to you inside out. If you plan to wear a bra on your big day please bring it with you to this fitting and every subsequent appointment. I suggest you wear separates i.e. jeans and a T-shirt as you wont need to strip off completely for the first two fittings. The calico shell is then used as your pattern to cut out your bridal fabrics for your second fitting. Allow 30 mins for this fitting. SECOND FITTING Your second fitting is much the same as your first, except your bodice will be made up in your fabrics! This fitting will also be done inside out so the seams are easy for me to pin and mark for any alterations. Allow 30 mins for this fitting.

Allow 40-60 mins for this fitting. FOURTH FITTING Your final fitting before collection. This is when I check that everything is perfect before you take your gown home. This fitting normally falls a week or two before your wedding leaving plenty of time if there are any last minute details to attend to. You will need your shoes and bridal underwear as well as your veil and accessories. Allow 40-60 mins for this fitting. COLLECTION Sadly this will be the last time we will get to spend time together. I encourage you to bring a Bridesmaid or family member, who will be with you on the morning of your wedding, to this appointment. This is to ensure you have helpers who know what to do to help you get into your gown without any issues. Bring your shoes and accessories with you for one final look at everything together before your big day. Allow 40-60 mins for this fitting.

A
few important things to consider. It’s time to think about everything you will need for your wedding day including accessories, underwear and shoes. Depending on the design you have chosen underwear is fairly straight forward. I always recommend a good pair of shapewear briefs from Nancy Ganz or Spanx which you can find at Myer and DJ’S. If you require a bra please get fitted for one as close to your Measurements Appointment as possible, most brides lose weight and your shape can change dramatically. I recommend a Balconette bra that has removable straps. Your Hair and Makeup trial is an important time to make a firm decision on whether you have a veil or not. I have a couple of “Loan Veils” you are welcome to borrow. Please let me know in plenty of time so I can have one ready for you. When it comes to your shoes there are a couple of things to consider: Number one; consider navigating your venue/locations for photos. Play it Safe: I LOVE the nude/blush block heels that are in fashion at the moment and you can also try a wedge for stability on uneven surfaces. BUT you don’t have to play it safe with the colour or style that is completely up to you. Number Two - try to avoid any claw setting embellishments over your toes as these can catch on the hem of your gown causing all sorts of problems. Your shoe style is the ideal accessory you can choose to really express your own personal style, so have some fun! Most importantly remember to enjoy this time, with your loved ones, without putting too much pressure on yourself. Having a gown made for you is a wonderful experience and I am here with you every step of the way!
