LOCATION
As long as there’s good light and areas to find open shade, I can make almost any location work. To a large degree, the background for your photos should be just that: background. That being said, the most important part of this decision is that it sets the mood for how you’ll FEEL on your session. If you feel good, you’ll rock your style anywhere!

SUNLIT STORY This woman is a radiant, brilliant voice and a ray of sunshine herself. So a sun and laughter filled photo session before she headed off to Stanford was the perfect way to celebrate and empower her. Late afternoon / early evening warm light in this neighborhood was perfect to highlight her as the Goddess she is! 20 |

ART STORY As an aspiring actor with an extraordinary and unique look, we wanted Trinity’s session to have a hint of an artsy, cinematic edge. The streets around this part of Denver provided the perfect backdrop, texture and urban light for her sense of style, and we experienced serendipitously perfect, ever changing light all day. SERIOUSLY... this entire neighborhood is a dream for photographing portraits with a hip, urban vibe! Coffee shops, bookstore, textures, colorful lights, new street art and high energy. NATURE in the CITY STORY Originally we’d planned a session for the Botanic Gardens, but our plans were thwarted by the pandemic. So we had to get resourceful and find nature right in downtown Denver. Lights, Camera, Action! Denver’s theatre district is full of color, potential and scale. Close to 16th Street Mall, the Denver Center for Performing Arts neighborhood is ideal for portraits with great light, beautiful chromatic backdrops and also offers less traveled areas to get comfortable in the beginning of your session. AND there are lots of easy places to change. A big bonus.

Riverfront Park on Little Raven Street is an excellent choice for seniors desiring a “hybrid” urban session with a mix of nature and greenery. street art in five points & RiNo
The best part about photographing with the street art in Five Points is this: the art you see now is painted over every year during Denver’s annual Crush Festival. So the pieces captured for you won’t be seen year after year. If you love color, this is a fan-freaking-tastic place to photograph. Vibrant, creative, always changing and a ton of fun for creative discovery for the colorful personality.

I first photographed this location when I was searching for more of an “old city” feeling than you can find in most of Denver. I am absolutly in love with the outcome of my senior session. The photos are proof that even for a second everything can be perfect.” - Josette.
Josette’s
“SEX & THE CITY” STORY Josette’s vision for her session was inspired by the character Carrie Bradshaw of “Sex & the City.” She actively prepared every detail, right down to special ordering this head-turning tulle skirt! Hannah’s
GEOLOGY STORY I’d had my eye on this location for a while, so when Hannah mentioned she wanted a session in a location that was all her own, this was my first thought. I showed her a few pictures I’d seen, she was excited... and it was perfect.

WEATHER & TIMING Guys... we live in Colorado. That whole, “if you don’t like the weather, wait 5 minutes” thing seems especially true during my busiest senior season times. So... here’s the deal: I can shoot in light wind and light rain and snow, and honestly, sometimes these conditions make for most interesting session stories. HOWEVER, I realize that you might have vision for beautiful weather to be wandering around for your session. So, I watch the weather every day and if things look uncomfortable for your session, we’ll stay in touch and if you want to reschedule around a storm, as long as we can find another date, I support your decision 100%. Regarding timing, generally the light is best if we start a session either close to dawn or about 90 minutes prior to sunset. I have a handy app

which will help me give you the exact time for your session date.

STYLE
isn’t what you wear: it’s how you wear it
designing your session:
WARDROBE & STYLING The most important thing throughout this process is that you feel like YOU. There’s no need to buy a whole new wardrobe; this should be a celebration of who you are, not how you dress! That being said, a little bit of preparation goes a long way towards making you FEEL great in whatever you bring. I’ll remind you of this in your confirmation, but keep in mind as you prepare: you’ll be walking for your session, so be sure to pack your wardrobe items in a rolling suitcase! More specific wardrobe tips in the next few pages...

YOUR STORY? In designing your senior portrait session you have a unique opportunity to share with the world a glimpse of who you are in this moment. Your style, your colors, things and places that inspire you can be worked together to weave the tale of YOU, now, at the edge of exciting new directions in your life. My goal is to empower YOU & capture your spark.

It’s my love of people -- our stories, our challenges, our stumbles and our triumphs -- that makes me addicted to my work as a portrait photographer. That... and the fact that I see beauty. Everywhere. In people. In light. In shadow. I can’t turn it off. My superpower is in seeing YOU and capturing your radiance. Your personality. Your spark. THIS is why I love what I do... and this is WHY I can’t wait to work with you.
