Fashion Activism: Space Between China and NZ was a cross cultural, interdisciplinary course, which was devised by sustainable fashion researcher/lecturer Jennifer Whitty at the College of Creative Arts, Massey University. Its aim was to encourage designers to explore the breadth of issues where fashion may have influence. Whitty is interested in expanding the notions of sustainability within design education and practice to investigate how emergent design methodologies and tools such as Design Activism, Slow Design (Fuad Luke, A, 2009, 2002) and Transition Design (Irwin, T. et al. 2015) can encourage designers to explore the breadth of issues where fashion may have influence.
