But they always neglect and ignore the old and worn-out areas, which have lots of local color and artistic elements. If you investigate these areas deeply, you will find out more than you expected and more attractive than those in the gallery.

‘Gallery’ is a term used to describe an indoor area with nice environment for showcasing different kinds art pieces. Galleries always keep a distance between the general public and arts. But arts should be something belongs to the public. Thus, a new term—“Time Art Gallery” will be introduced to you in this issue.

trict in Hong Kong with high proportion of commercial land use. With the image of international financial hub, it seems that all the spaces in Central are used for business and retail. As the land value in Hong Kong is high, it is difficult to imagine that there is a space for art creations in Central. That is why Hong Kong is called as the “Desert of Culture”.

Revitalization

projects were taken place in Central and one of them is Central Wet Market. The Central Wet Market became the oasis of the “Desert of Culture”. The government made good use of this public space, and holding an art gallery over there. Molding the financial hub, Central, becoming an artistic venue is no longer a dream. It may be a good attempt for this metropolitan city transforming itself into a city with intense cultural atmosphere.
