CREATED BY AMERICAN DESIGNER JENNY O’GRADY. CURRENT VISUAL COMMUNICATION STUDENT AT THE UNIVERSITY OF KANSAS (2015).
Nollie appears extreme, sharp, jagged, non-conforming, varied, and bold. Nollie got its name from the skateboard trick. The typeface would appeal to the skating crowd because it is stereotypically “dangerous” and “extreme” in its mood – similar to skating as a sport. The vowels are smaller than the consonances, allowing for more varied text. The characteristics of Nollie can be identified by the sharp ascenders and descenders on each letter. However, “E” does not have either, making it unique but adding variety to the way words and sentences fit together using this display typeface. Nollie is a strictly all-capital typeface. Therefore, Nollie appears to always be screaming something. Nollie comes in all 26 letter forms and some symbols.
