Celebrities through time Materials Notebooks / ipod / ipad / smart phones (Remind them that whichever device they will bring, it needs to be charged) Tools Animoto - Linoit - WebQuest - Edmodo (to share the results with the whole class) Lead-in How do you look for information about celebrities? What type of information do you look for? Do you think that by doing this we can get a better grasp of history? Why (not)? Task You are journalists at a TV network and you must find out about the most outstanding events that took place during the life of the celebrity you have chosen so as to release a news report and inform present viewers about one of the most fascinating times in their history. Organization Students will work in groups (2 or 3 people) that have the same interest. Process Students collaboratively look for information of the celebrity and use linoit / Web Quest to share the information they find. For this, you or your students will have to get a linoit account
and create a new canvas. After they have created the new canvas (make sure they make it public) they share the link in Edmodo. If you choose to use WebQuest here is a tutorial in Spanish in case you need it: http://www.youtube.com/watch? v=mFSf2qYA0nk For more information about linoit you can access the page http://en.linoit.com/ and watch the following tutorial: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lvo4YyroM3k After they have shared the information, students will create an Animoto as if they were the celebrity. In order to do this, they will need to have an animoto account. They can sign in at http://animoto.com/ and here is a tutorial in case they need more help: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uF7vygIwpcM
When students have all the information and the animoto they will present them to the whole group as if they were TV broadcasters. One of the students will be the director and will record the presentation and then the recorded presentation can be uploaded to Edmodo. Possible follow up Your news report was so successful that a newspaper asked you to write an article with the information you have presented.
