Graduated from the Malta college of arts science and technology (MCAST) with a Bachelor of Arts (Hons.) in Graphic Design and Interactive Media in 2012. Following this, I started to work as a full time graphic designer in a small company where I was responsible for the design of adverts and laying out of a catalogue magazine. As the years passed, the company introduced other small leaflets and tabloid, where we eventually started to take care of some online content for a couple of clients. As a side job I started to work as freelance graphic designer in 2016. In this portfolio you will find some of my work conducted.

In July 2020 the hotel had a soft opening of its newly built hotel where they only had a logo designed by a previous designer. I was responsible to create the brand identity and all the related stationery required to start and get the hotel running. For me, this was a challenge which I was looking forward to complete since I’ve never had a client in this particular sector. This gave me the opportunity to work on door hangers, towel hangers, luggage stickers and room numbers amongst others.

Another hotel which I started to work for was Sunflower. This hotel was already established, however it was being refurbishing during the COVID-19 pandemic. As part of the refurbishing project, the management decided that the logo needed a fresh look in terms of design, so I was responsible for social media design offers together with leaflet promotions and food menu designs.

The directors of Tal-Lira wanted to expand their company portfolio and diversify in new business sectors, hence, they wanted to create a brand identity for the new group of companies and keeping a uniform layout throughout. For this I created the Lira Group, Lira Hotels & Lira Investments logo. Some basic items, such as business cards, email signatures and letter heads where created for the company.

One of my very first clients which I still have the pleasure to work for, is the Sant family. They own the Tal-Lira department stores, with around eight outlets across Malta & Gozo. The late Joe Sant had given me the opportunity to work on my first billboard back in 2013 and over the years I had the chance to work both on other printed and digital media. Amongst these I was asked to take care of street billboards, other street signage, adverts on newspapers and catalogue magazines, shop signs, way finding, website and social media banners amongst others.

A restaurant based in Virginia, US was branching out and creating frozen food delivery option. I needed to come up with a concept for the design and graphics on the different packaging that will be offered for their clients. The owner also requested the printing of labels to be marked on the box for the different type of spices offered. To reduce the costs involved I suggested to make use of the packaging side itself and therefore cutting the costs and time to make the stickers.

Every year I organise a small break for my friends which usually takes place in a typical farmhouse or villa in Gozo. This has become an annual event and to keep things interesting I come up with a different theme each year. This particular year I decided to name the event ‘The Island of Calypso’ and relate it with the Greek mythology and each member was assigned a god name.

Għaqda Madonna Tal-Grazzja Banda San Mikiel ŝabbar is a local community organisation that commissioned me over the years to create Various posters for print and to be published on their facebook page as well. The Royal Drinks, is part of a card collection which I thought for the 2019 event theme. As an excuse for team building and at the same time for everyone to take a short summer break, we rented a farmhouse in Gozo. The concept was that of combining card games, personality traits and alcohol to create something different. Since we were a group of 12, each individual was assigned a particular card on a custom deck. Using only the ‘Royal Cards’, meaning the Jack, Queen and King. The card included that persons’ favourite drink and then the rest of the pattern/design on the clothing reflected the hobbies, work or favourite things of that particular individual. To elaborate further the deck each Ace was also assigned a theme, but this time it reflected part of the Maltese history and heritage (The Neolithic and Temple period, The Great Siege in 1565, The French Occupation and finally Malta under the British Empire 1800-1964).
