Designed for SONAs 2019 SuperStudio: The project explores the brief of creating a sense of community through play via the reimagining of a tram super-stop. The intervention seeks to foster a sense of community through its morphing roof structure which responds to how the commuters interact with it. As people sit down and stand up the structure moves overhead, areas lift up to let light in, another section pulls down and pooling water falls into the centralised garden space. The intervention evokes a metabolist ideas, whereby the commuters affects become part of a greater whole with a direct and appreciable effect on their shared environment. The tram stop is an ideal location; being somewhere transitory where people are often disconnected from one another. The sense of fun, engaging the sense — a universal language understandable by all, brings these people together into a micro-community which is, if fleeting, very meaningful.
