A boriginal Women Artists Project
Catherine Manuell Design prouidly works with Aboriginal Women artists from around Australia – and creates a wonderful everyday designs collection for us all to enjoy.
Mim Cole is a visual artist and Gulumoerrgin/Larrakia (NT), Wardaman (NT), Karajarri (WA) woman who was born and raised on Larrakia Country, also known as Darwin in the Northern Territory of Australia. Mim has been creating art since she was a teenager, learning techniques through practice and observation from her mother, uncles and large artistic family.
Family Love is a symbol of my family, my world, my heart.
Elements represents the wind, earth, flora and fauna, sun, water and fire as depicted by the different colours in the six sections of the painting.
Community Unity represents family and the importance of having a good, strong, supportive community around it.
Freshwater Billabong represents the many Freshwater Billabongs, which are heavenly oases on this hot earth.
Cheryl Thompson is a Yiningai woman of the Desert Channel Country - particularly the settlement of Barcaldine and its surrounds. These paintings represent all that it means to be an Aboriginal woman in a tribal and contemporary context. The concepts of harvest, to gather, to carry, to provide and to nurture are the keystones to what it means to be an Aboriginal woman. Desert Women’s Summer Harvest Coolamon Collection: Conkerberries, Wild Orange, Bush Tomatoes and Yiningai Gumbi Gumbi.
