Originally, an unpublished 18th-century Bengali-language manuscript by Dom Antonio da Rosario, son of the Hindu king of Busna (Bhushona, in present Bangladesh) and later converted to Christianity, and edited by Professor Surendranath Sen of the University of Calcutta and printed there in 1937.
Many scholars recognize this as the first example of Bengali prose writing in the history of the Bengali language and literature.
