Jerome D'Costa's Bengali-language article, published in the 'Robbar' weekly of May 3, 1981, gives backgrounds of eight historic churches in Dhaka. These churches are: CATHOLIC (Our Lady of the Assumption Church at Narinda: 1628; Holy Rosary Church at Tejgaon: 1677; Our Lady of Piety Church at Amputty: 1815; and Holy Cross Church at Luxmibazar: 1836), GREEK ORTHODOX (Holy Resurrection Church at Armanitola: 1781; and Greek Church at the Chawk: 1821) and PROTESTANT (St. Thomas Anglican Church on Johnson Road: 1817, and Baptist Church at Bangla Bazar: 1887).
