A Bengali-language feature of Jerome D'Costa on the Jalchatra Catholic Church and its surrounding area in Tangail District, Bangladesh. Written in the Pratibeshi weekly of June 15, 1975, the writer portrays a historical sketch of how the mission church was founded in the forested area, how presently Father Eugene Homrich CSC, Father Alfred Neff CSC, and Father Peter Rema are trying to develop the area after the devastating 1971 War of Independence. It also tells how some Garo (Mandi) women are picking up and taking care of Bangali babies left abandoned on roadsides due to failure of their parents to feed them at the time of severe famine in late 1974 and early 1975.
