A Bengali-language commentary of Jerome D'Costa on the new education policy of the government announced in September of 1982. It tells of the three strata of education -- Primary (Classes or Grades 1 to 5), Preparatory (Classes 6 to 8), and Secondary (Classes 9 to 12). The commentator tells that the new policy stipulates that Muslim majority students of the country starting from Class I will have compulsory Arabic to keep in line with their own Islamic heritage and ideals, but fails to mention anything about other religious minority community students. The commentator asks whether minority groups' individual Religion course would be compulsory instead.
