A. T. Millar's article on the once Portuguese-ruled Old Goa, a few miles north of Panaji (or Panjim) on the River Mandovi in western India. The writer provides a historical, architectural, economic, and religious background of this now abandoned old city. He mentions, "The Rome of the East, the vast emporium of trade, Golden Goa, is now not even a shadow of her former splendour." The compiler of this article somehow missed the name and date of the Indian magazine where it was published.
