Jerry Gibson

Jerry Gibson has devoted his professional life to improving educational standards and nurturing young minds in Texas, showcasing an unwavering commitment to developing comprehensive educational environments. His story began in his youth when his educators' significant role deeply influenced him in shaping his perspective on learning and community impact. After graduating from high school in Texas, Gibson pursued higher education with a clear vision of his future. He earned his bachelor's degree from East Texas Baptist University in 1993 and a master's degree in Education from Lamar University in 2002. His academic journey culminated with a doctorate in Educational Leadership from the University of Houston in 2015, which equipped him with the leadership skills necessary to influence educational policy and practice on a larger scale. Jerry began his career in education as a teacher and coach, where he quickly demonstrated his dedication to student development in academics and athletics. His career trajectory took him through various educational roles, including head coach, athletic director, assistant principal, and principal. These experiences solidified his passion for academic administration, leading him to seek positions that allowed him to effect more remarkable systemic change. In 2011, Gibson was appointed as the Executive Director of Secondary Education in the Waco Independent School District, putting him in charge of nearly a dozen schools. His leadership skills were tested as he managed the educational needs of over 6,500 students. Following this, he served as superintendent for three different Texas school districts over a decade, including Coldspring, Oakhurst, and Marshall. Jerry faced and embraced the challenges of improving educational frameworks and community relations in each of these roles, always focusing on elevating student access to quality education.
