“our Granny Pooh”

An angel received her beautiful wings. I miss you every day. My grandmother was my hero, my queen, and my best friend. Everyone loved you so so much because of your beautiful heart and strength. You were the shining light, the glue that kept everyone together. You showed Chashell and me how never to give up, to respect yourself and others, and to be different is okay. No one in this lifetime can replace your genuine love and affection. Even though God called you home, you’re in the best company, and the pain is gone; you’re at peace. Tell my Mom I love her so much and miss her with all my heart. Tell Granddaddy I miss him, and I loved all his stories of the past. Tell Uncle Ivory I miss him and his honesty; he always told me what I needed to hear. All I can say is I Love You so…much, and this word is not as bright without you in it.

Love always, Jeremy and Charnell Douglas

a GrandMother in heaven

If roses grow in Heaven, Lord, please pick a bunch for me Place them in my grandma’s arms, and tell her they’re from us; tell her we love and miss her, and when she turns to smile, place a kiss upon her cheek and hold her for a while.

Love, Monica, Ronique, Rodney, Lil Trell, and Logan

My red Cross

How do I prepare the words to say the words to speak about a woman so loved and cherished by many each day. A heart so big…. So kind, so giving who could throw down at the drop of a hat in the kitchen. Soft words of wisdom and compassion, no matter the case, a grandmother’s love can never be replaced. Aldi, Kroger, Cash Saver, the Piggly Wiggly man, oh man, will I miss getting that call while in line? “Hey boy, add this… this…and this to my list. “Early days of bacon, eggs, and biscuits being made just hearing your voice say boy get your butt up and come eat; you’re not going to sleep all day.” On my first days on earth, you would rub my cone head. The nights I would wait, oh Mom, and would fall asleep in your bed. The song you made up, “What’s a matter you?” What’s the matter with me? The sweet sound of your voice is always there to calm me. Remembering the days of 1 of the most influential people in the world. Tell Big Ma, Randy, Lisa, Ivory, Tommy, Daddy Hello. I will always love and cherish you.

My GrandMother

This is my grandmother Jacqueline Smith. I called her Momo instead of Mama because that’s what I call my mother. She was like another mother to me. She helped raise me and teach me how to speak, and I eventually became my own person. Throughout my childhood, I saw her in and out of the hospital, but the thought of death never comes to your mind until you are forced to face it. The 1st time I was confronted with the reality of death was when my granddad died. I was about 7. I did not know how to take it at the time since I was so young. But when my dad told me Grandma died, it hit me hard. I thank God that I was able to spend time with her and talk to her before she was taken away from us. May my Grandma Jacqueline Y. Smith rest in peace.
