#1. The Anti 1,2,3,4,5,6 Hack A common argument is that when picking lottery numbers you may as well pick 1,2,3,4,5 and 6 since they are just as likely to be drawn as any other numbers. The logic behind this is correct but people who give this advice are still very wrong. Whilst picking 1,2,3,4,5 and 6 doesn’t reduce your chances of winning the lottery, it massively reduces the prize you receive if you do win. A key point about lottery prizes is that the prize fund is split by the number of winners of that prize. The more people that have the same numbers as you, the less you will win. So what’s so bad about 1,2,3,4,5,6? It’s estimated that each week 10,000 tickets are bought using these numbers. Assuming most jackpots are around the £4,000,000 mark, if you were to win the jackpot with these numbers you’d only receive £400! Imagine your disappointment thinking you’d just won a life changing amount of money only to find out you have to share the prize with 10,000 people. It's not just a tiny jackpot you’d receive if you won. If you got 5 numbers and the bonus ball with these numbers you’d only receive £5. This is significantly less than matching only 3 numbers using a random selection. Never pick 1,2,3,4,5, and 6 as your lotto numbers.

#2. The Overseas Lotto Hack (part 1) If you play the lottery for a big jackpot you probably play EuroMillions or Lotto especially when there’s a rollover that generates a huge top prize. If you’re doing this you are severely limiting your options. There are dozens of big jackpot draws all over the world. For example the biggest ever EuroMillions jackpot won was €190 Million (£130 Million). Not bad. But compare this to the biggest ever Mega Millions jackpot from the USA - a huge $656 Million (£415 Million). MegaMillions isn’t the only huge jackpot game outside the UK – Powerball and the California Lottery (both in USA) regularly have very big jackpots, as does La Primitiva in Spain. But you live in the UK. How can you gain access to all these massive overseas jackpots?

The good news is that services exist to allow people based in the UK to buy Lottery tickets. These online services, such as The Lotter, have agents based locally for each lottery and buy the ticket on your behalf (you choose your numbers) and scan them into your account – what’s even better is that they don’t take any commission so you keep 100% of your winnings. One of the most important steps you can take as a lottery player to increase your advantage, is to look at non-UK lotteries. You can use the Key Link below to review and access all the overseas big jackpots live. Play big jackpot non-UK lotteries.

#3. The Tuesday EuroMillions Hack Play EuroMillions. On a Tuesday. When there’s not a rollover. This might seem like very odd advice. Why would you play on a Tuesday rather than a Friday? The jackpot is nearly always bigger on a Friday. And why should I choose to play when there isn’t a rollover? The important element with EuroMillions is the Millionaire Maker raffle. All players of the UK version of EuroMillions are automatically entered into the Millionaire Maker draw, which guarantees one player in that draw will win £1,000,000. Your Millionaire Marker code is automatically generated when you buy a EuroMillions ticket (3 numbers and 6 letters) – you can’t select your own Millionaire Maker code, but this doesn't matter. Every code is entered into the draw - one code is drawn with the person with that code winning £1,000,000. This key point here is that the prize is £1,000,000 irrespective of how many people play. The odds of winning the Millionaire Marker are simply determined by the the number of people playing a draw. So if 10,000,000 play one week the odds of winning are 1 in 10,000,000. If 2,000,000 people play the odds are 1 in 2,000,000. You want to play EuroMillions on draws when less people play. Rollovers attract the most players, so these can be avoided if you’re aiming for the £1,000,000. If there is no rollover a typical Friday draw will have 7,500,000 players compared to only 4,800,000 on a Tuesday. So, you are almost twice as likely to win the Millionaire Maker draw on a Tuesday compared to a Friday. In odds terms this is a significant advantage. Play EuroMillions on a Tuesday.

#4. The Overseas Lotto Hack (part 2) The odds of winning the jackpot on a lottery vary massively between lotteries. The odds of winning any prize on a lottery vary massively between lotteries. The jackpot not only varies between lotteries but also varies week on week, since the jackpot is a function of the number of people who bought tickets that week (not to mention rollovers increasing jackpots). The price of lottery tickets varies between lotteries. All of the above factors determine how “good value” a lottery is. You want to play the cheapest lottery, with the highest jackpot with the best odds of winning.

With all the different lotteries in the world, it’s very unlikely that UK based lotteries are going to be the best in this respect. So as with the Overseas Lotto Hack (part 1), you need to be looking at the overseas lotteries for the best option. As mentioned above, jackpots change constantly which means the “best value” lottery changes too. Fortunately there’s an online tracker that does the calculations for you, showing you the best lottery to play based on the above factors. You can access this tracker via the Key Link below. Play the “best value” lottery.

#5. The Anti-Birthday Bias Hack This hack is based on similar principles to the Anti 1,2,3,4,5,6 Hack. The idea here is not about increasing your chances of winning, but rather increasing the amount you win, when you match the correct numbers. The more people with the same numbers, the more a prize is split if those numbers come up. If we work on the (correct) assumption that all numbers are just as likely to be drawn, then it makes sense to pick numbers that are less likely to be picked by other people. In pure logic terms if there is a 10% chance of x happening and if x happens you win $5. Compared to a 10% chance of y happening but if y happens you win $10. You would pick y every time. It’s this logic that dictates you should avoid numbers that other people are more likely to pick.

If numbers were picked by players completely randomly, then when you look at the total playing population, each available number should be picked the same amount of times. However this isn’t the case – each of the numbers from 1 to 31 get picked far more often than numbers larger than 31. The reason for this is that a large proportion of players pick numbers that mean something to them and more often than not these are based on birthday dates. People pick months, which means that 1 to 12 are over represented. And people pick dates within a month which means that 1 to 31 are over represented – this is called the Birthday Bias. This means that by picking only numbers within the 1-31 range you are increasing your chances of having to share a jackpot if you win. Ensure some of the numbers you pick are above 31.

#6. The Syndicate Hack If you take a single lottery draw in isolation the one and only way to improve your odds of winning on that specific draw is to buy more tickets for that draw. Any methods tracking recent or common numbers drawn or methods that predict certain numbers being “due” to appear are completely incorrect. The odds of any number appearing in a certain draw are fixed and are in no way influenced by what has happened in the past. The only way to increase your chances on an individual draw is to buy more tickets. But buying more tickets means spending more. The best way around this is to join a syndicate. The best option is to use The Lotter’s syndicate service, that not only has ready made syndicates to join, but also gives you access to all the best lotteries and jackpots around the world (so this method fits well alongside the Overseas Lotto Hack). It’s also safe and secure with no commission taken on winnings. Note: it’s important to understand how this differs from the Anti 1,2,3,4,5,6 Hack. The Syndicate Hack involves sharing a jackpot but this method increases your chances of winning. If you picked 123456, you’d also share a jackpot but you are not increasing your chances of winning. You can join ready made, fully managed syndicates for the best lotteries all around the world using the Key Link below. Join a syndicate to improve your chances of winning.

#7. The Anti-Lucky Number Hack By now after reading about the Anti 1,2,3,4,5,6 Hack and the Anti-Birthday Bias Hack you should have a good understanding of why you want to avoid picking only numbers that other players are more likely to pick. So far we know that 1,2,3,4,5, and 6 are overly represented in players’ picks, as are numbers 1-31. However there is another group of numbers that are picked by other players more often than the statistical average. These are lucky numbers. In the UK, 7 is considered lucky and as such 7 is the number most often picked by players. The picking pattern extends beyond just 7. In fact any number with a 7 in it is over represented by other players’ picks. Research has shown that 7, 17, 27 and 37 are all picked by other players more often than you would expect them to be picked. By avoiding choosing these numbers yourself, you increase your chances of not having to share any winnings. To illustrate this - The most people to win the same jackpot was 133 – they all picked the numbers 7, 17, 23, 32, 38 and 42 on 14 January 1995. Note the presence of 7 and 17 here. You can be pretty sure that if 27 and 37 were included in the winning numbers, the jackpot would have been shared by an even greater number. Don’t pick 7, 17, 27 or 37.

#8. The Play Online Hack £63,837,543.60 is a lot of money. This was the jackpot for the EuroMillions draw on June 8th 2012. What makes this particularly significant is that this is the largest ever unclaimed prize in the world. This is far from a one off though. Millions of pounds worth of lottery prizes are left unclaimed. To pick just one month at random – from January 2015, the following big prizes were unclaimed: • 2nd Jan - £59k Lotto Prize Unclaimed in Harlow • 6th Jan - £3 Million Lotto Prize Unclaimed in Stirling • 6th Jan - £66k Lotto Prize Unclaimed in Bournemouth and Christchurch • 7th Jan - EuroMillions Millionaire Maker Prize Unclaimed in City of Leicester • 12th Jan - EuroMillions Millionaire Maker Prize Unclaimed in Harrow • 30th Jan - £70k Lotto Prize Unclaimed in Glasgow If the prizes are not claimed within 180 days (around 6 months) of the draw date, they will go to National Lottery Projects. If you play online, the lottery contact you. So you don’t have to worry about losing your ticket or forgetting to claim a prize. You might think you’d never do that, but the examples above show it’s more common than you may think. This is not so much a hack and more common sense. Don’t take the risk. Always play online.

#9. The Cheap Ticket Hack Getting free or cheaper tickets creates an obvious advantage to the player. Lotteries themselves very rarely offer free tickets or discounted ticket as they have very strict payment structures with fixed percentages having to go to prizes, charity, tax and the seller. However lottery agents (independent websites that sell lottery tickets) often have special offers.

These special offers are usually along the lines of buy one get one free, particularly for new players, or a percentage discount on the the price of the ticket if you buy in bulk. These offers are unlikely to be particularly cost effective when buying tickets for the UK National Lottery, but they are great for the overseas lotteries, so this hack is perfect to combine with the Overseas Lottery Hack.

Special offers change on a weekly, if not daily basis, so there would be no point in including details here, since in all likelihood the offers would have expired by the time you read this. Fortunately the LottoSwap website tracks all special offers and keeps an updated record of them. You can access the LottoSwap special offer tracker via the Key Link below. Pay less for lottery tickets.
