Clarified Lean Medium Lavender This important classical painting medium is crafted from a mixture of Chelsea’s Oil of Spike Lavender Essence and Chelsea’s Clarified Pale Cold-Pressed Linseed Oil. A “Lean” Medium refers to the “Fat Over Lean” technique, which means to apply paint layers rich in oil (a fat) over foundation layers with less oil (a lean) on a painting. This simple principle is fundamental to controlling the paint adhesion, drying time and glossiness of oil colors. This fine-art quality medium has a light oil content mixed with a varnish, so it will thin the paint, make it dry faster. Recommended for the early layers of painting. Lavender Damar Varnish
Clarified Fat Medium, by Chelsea Classical Studios, is a handmade oil medium that decreases drying time and increases glossiness. It is crafted from a mixture of their Clarified Pale Cold-Pressed Linseed Oil and their Lavender Damar Varnish (damar resin is dissolved in distilled Oil of Spike Lavender Essence). This traditional fine-art quality medium has a large oil content mixed with a varnish so is considered fairly fat, rich and glossy. To be used in the later layers of oil paintings.
Lavender Damar Varnish has multiple uses besides as a final varnish. Mix with other mediums to increase gloss while decreasing drying time. Diluted with Chelsea Classical Medium and Lavender Spike Oil Essence, it creates a retouch varnish. Unlike turpentine and mineral spirits, it will not produce caustic fumes or the chronic health issues associated with their use.

Art Alternatives Classic Cotton Stretched Canvas An all-purpose canvas, Classic Cotton Stretched Canvas is great for traditional painting techniques as well as mixed media, aerosol art, home decor and craft project and is suitable for use with all acrylic paints, oil paints and other wet or dry media. The unbleached 5 oz. cotton duck is primed with acid-free acrylic titanium gesso to a finished weight of 10 oz. and stretched around kiln-dried solid pine stretcher bars. The canvas is held in place with a flexible spline allowing for painting on all four edges and hanging with or without a frame. Sizes with a dimension of 24" or longer are braced for additional support. Available in two profile depths: Studio Canvas ¾" deep profile and Gallery Canvas 1 3∕8" deep profile. Gallery profiles provide additional strength and support, especially for larger sizes.

Precision cut, they are smoothly sanded and finished, and feature a uniform beaded edge so canvas is slightly offset to provide a good painting feel.
