Now, we know every human being has a dream, and wish to attain wealth; just like the next door neighbor; unfortunately, politics of life usually deal back cards to lot of people in attaining their God's gifted talents, or to fully realize their dreams and potential in life. On that premise, the purpose of this writing is to mainly appeal to the wealthy ones around the globe, to do more in spreading their wealth to help less rich ones; especially in the areas of Education, Health, Food nutrition, Climate changes formula; and so on. In replica fashion, encourage the less rich, "to keep hope alive". Meaning, no matter how or what your circumstances might be today (precisely in the area of finance), you are better off out here with your freedom; rather than taking unnecessary risks of engaging in gun violence; which might end up with you being locked up in the cage, like Kinta-Kinte. And while there, kneeling down, praying, and weeping like Queen Virginia that has not been visited by King Madingo in a long time. (Please pardon my French Language). In a nutshell, for the rich and the less rich, as citizens of this planet earth, our fate is inter-twined. The rich cannot sleep, because the poor is hungry. And the poor cannot sleep, because the rich is awake. So, why don't you do more helping someone today, by spreading the wealth of the nation.....1776 Adam Smith's style. U.S.-‐EAC Private Sector Trade Facilitation Priorities

The U.S. and East African business communities have agreed to partner to improve trade facilitation in East Africa, which will reduce the cost and time to get goods to market and enhance opportunities for trade and investment. This interest is reflected in the work of The Corporate Council on Africa (CCA) and East African Business Council (EABC), with trade facilitation highlighted as a priority in the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed by the two organizations in September 2013. The following recommendations were developed through consultations with the private sectors in both the United States and EAC countries presented at the CCA Leading the Way in U.S.-‐Africa Investment Business Forum as part of the U.S.-‐Africa Leaders Summit on August 4, 2014. As discussed at the Business Forum, the partners agree that the recommendations below reflect the following priorities, all of which should guide future work together: (1) These recommendations will support continuing reforms to further improve the investment climate in East Africa and increase engagement of the private sector through the EABC and CCA in this process. (2) There is an element of premature structural transformation in East Africa as evidenced by the high growth rates, but this has yet to fully translate into poverty reduction and inclusive growth, which are two goals of the recommendations outlined below. (3) The partners agree that greater focus should be placed on targeted investment priorities to realize greater benefits through the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA) and ensure that growth can emanate from industrial productivity to create more jobs and lead to meaningful transformation of the African economies. (4) Long-‐term financing at affordable interest rates should also be a priority, particularly to generate greater investment in agro-‐processing, and the recommendations below will help create greater certainty and reduce risk in the market. (5) There is a need for investment in significant training in science and technology, with the goal of spurring innovation across sectors and among businesses of all sizes.

FIRST DAY OF 46TH ANNUAL RAINBOW PUSH COALITION INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE: APPS, CODES AND SCHOLARSHIPS Inline image 1

CHICAGO – A leading Silicon Valley leader Wednesday hailed the Rainbow PUSH Coalition for its work to protect civil rights, but said it will take a renewed vigilance to protect gains made over the past 50 years.

Rosalind Hudnell, vice president of Worldwide Corporate Affairs and president of the Intel Foundation, lauded the Rev. Jesse L. Jackson, Sr., and the Rainbow PUSH Coalition for “its mission to protect, defend, and gain civil rights by leveling the economic and education playing fields, and to promote peace and justice around the world.”

Speaking at the opening luncheon for the Rainbow PUSH Coalition and Citizenship Education Fund’s 46th Annual International Convention, Hudnell said the organization “is as much needed today as on the day of your founding.”

Before speaking at the luncheon, Hudnell visited the conference’s Tech Expo, which celebrated youth vision and entrepreneurism in the fields of Science, Technology, Arts Engineering, and Math (STEAM). The expo and convention continues through Friday afternoon at the Hilton Chicago, 720 S. Michigan Avenue, before moving to PUSH headquarters, 930 E. 50th Street, through Saturday, July 15.

"We have globalized capital, technology, and athletics,” Rev. Jackson said. “We need to globalize human rights."

Approximately 100 attendees, including several international delegations from both the Asian and African continents, attended a plenary session on investment and development opportunities in Africa.

"While nationalism is driven by localism and fear, globalism is driven by inclusion in hope," Rev. Jackson said.

Many of the panelists addressed the need for African countries to take the lead in their own development.

“I want a strong Africa, an Africa I created myself” said Solomon Baddoo, president and founder of Global Solutions Outreach Inc. “We need to equip our people to develop our own country, and a strong workforce capable of handling projects and solving problems.”

Diversity in Law

While getting through law school is often the challenge of a lifetime, it’s only the beginning of a many barriers young lawyers of color still confront today, according to a panel on the need for diversity in the legal profession.

Preparing for College

---------- Forwarded message ---------From: "Raquel LaCour" <lacourbeauteinspired@gmail.com> Date: Jul 21, 2017 3:34 PM Subject: August Article To: "wale idreez" <africatoday14@gmail.com> Cc:

Preparing for CollegeWhat you need to know before starting college

By: Raquel LaCour High School graduation is over and the first major step in transitioning into an adult has now begun. Now what will you do? Have you prepared yourself for college and all the challenges you are about to embrace? Many do not realize that college is a major pivotal moment in ones’ life. This can be the most exhilarating time, for many, by being on your own, and it can be the most frightening . This is not a time to party and become distracted, as many young adults have discovered. If you do not prepare yourself, you may find yourself comparable to a sinking ship. The first thing one must determine is what profession they want to become. This will avoid one from taking unnecessary classes that does not work toward their degree. Taking classes toward your degree is detrimental from the beginning. Do not waste time taking classes that do not pertain to your area of study. This will only delay your graduation date, and take note, every year the price of tuition and housing goes up. If you are having a problem understanding any topic in class, feel free to ask questions, without any hesitation. You are there to learn and understand the material that is instructed. If your questions are still unclear, do not feel embarrassed to seek additional guidance, by talking to your professor one on one and making sure you know what tutors are available. Make sure that you attend class regularly. No one is going to call home and say you never made it to class. Being a freshman is a new experience with making and connecting with new friendships and organizations. Try not to overload yourself with activities, school functions, organizations, sport teams, relationships, fraternities and sororities. Having ample time to study without procrastinating is going to help you from falling behind. Keeping good grades will allow you to maintain any grant or scholarship that is given. Choices you make will affect your years in college. If you prepare yourself, then you will have a successful outcome by maximizing all you can out of college.

NATIONAL BESTSELLER A NEW YORK TIMES TOP 10 BEST BOOK OF THE YEAR From the bestselling author of The Dark Side, an electrifying work of investigative journalism that uncovers the powerful group of immensely wealthy ideologues who are shaping the fate of America. In her new preface, Jane Mayer discusses the results of the most recent election and Donald Trump's victory, and how, despite much discussion to the contrary, this was a huge victory for the billionaires who have been pouring money in the American political system. Why is America living in an age of profound and widening economic inequality? Why have even modest attempts to address climate change been defeated again and again? Why do hedgefund billionaires pay a far lower tax rate than middleclass workers? In a riveting and indelible feat of reporting, Jane Mayer illuminates the history of Synopsis an elite cadre of plutocrats—headed by the Kochs, the Scaifes, the Olins, and the Bradleys—who have bankrolled For the first twenty years of my life this is what I knew about my background: I was born in a systematic plan to fundamentally alter the American political system. Mayer traces a byzantine trail of billions of Eritrea a tiny country on the northeast coast of Africa. My mother died in childbirth, my father dollars spent by the network, revealing a staggering conglomeration of think tanks, academic institutions, media soon afterwards, I was placed in an orphanage in Asmara, the capital, by a distant relative, or groups, courthouses, and government allies that have fallen under their sphere of influence. Drawing from perhaps a neighbour. That’s it. The sum total of my family knowledge.

Six months later I was hundreds of exclusive interviews, as well as extensive scrutiny of public records, private papers, and court proceedings, Mayer provides vivid portraits of the secretive figures behind the new American oligarchy and a adopted by a British academic and that’s how I ended up growing up in a white family in searing look at the carefully concealed agendas steering the nation. Dark Money is an essential book for anyone Manchester. And then one day, when I was a student in Liverpool, I received a letter with an who cares about the future of American democracy.

Eritrean postmark. It was from my brother in Asmara, the one I never knew I had.

My Fathers’ Daughter is Hannah Pool’s brave and heartbreaking story of her return to Africa to meet the family she lost – and the father she thought was dead… Reviews for My Fathers’ Daughter: "Remarkable...Pool's candor is striking...Her story is as much about an adopted child facing up to the challenge of tracing her biological family as it is about her search for African roots...[She gives] a sense of what it is like to be a young person of African descent who is unquestionably British." The Observer (U.K.) "What a story. So vivid, honest and moving." Andrea Levy, author of Small Island "In this beautifully honest book, Pool gives us a frontrow view of how identity is built up, but also how it's dismantled...Simply engrossing." Time Out London "Hannah Pool [is] a thoroughly engaging storyteller [who] offers us a different way of seeing...layered with subtleties. Although passages bring tears to the eyes, the sentiment is never pity. Rather awe at the depth of Hannah's experience, her courage in confronting it and her success, finally, in making sense of it all." The Sunday Times (London) "Engaging and moving."' Mail on Sunday "A moving story that sent shivers down my spine in its final moments. Hannah is an engaging raconteur, reporting her emotional highs and lows with insight and humor." The Bookseller "[A] truly moving exploration of identity." Sunday Times
