The Morikami Gardens celebrated Obon Weekend on Aug. 13-14 in a serene yet festive fashion. Guests were invited to stroll through the gardens, fill out tanzaku slips to honor lost loved ones, and enjoy live taiko drum performances. Pictured: Taiko drummers performing.

AUSTEN WALDRON The Spady Museum, in partnership with Sankofa Study Group and Kwanzaa 365 Live, brought the community together for a day of family fun to celebrate Kwanzaa in July. Guests took part in children’s games and donated supplies for the new school year, and vendors sold handmade artwork to commemorate the cultural holiday. Hot off the heels of Palm Beach and Boca, Delray celebrated its own restaurant month for all of September. With multi-course prix fixe lunches and dinners, happy hour specials and unique culinary experiences, Delray reminded foodies why it deserves recognition as a premier South Florida dining destination. Members of the Delray City Commission, Community Redevelopment Agency and Housing Authority broke ground on the Island Cove Apartments, an affordable housing option for low-income Delray residents. More than 100 attendees came out to a town hall meeting at Arts Garage and generously sponsored by Atlantic Grille, Rocco’s Tacos and Rose’s Daughter. The event was an opportunity for Delray residents and business owners to speak about what they would like to see in Delray’s Village by the Sea.
