SPORTS CODE OF CONDUCT

Code of conduct for Supporters The purpose of this code of conduct is to ensure that the highest standard of sportsmanship and conduct is adhered to at all times. Children learn best by following a good example. As a school we encourage all parents to adhere to the following guidelines when supporting a school team or individual. Rules for Parents, Spectators and Suppourters when watching a fixture: • Encourage all players irrespective of their ability. • Congratulate all participants on their performance regardless of the game’s outcome. • Verbally encourage all players in a positive manner, shouting 'for', not 'at', the players. • Acknowledge effort and good performance rather than 'to win at all costs'. • Act as positive role model to all players, remember young people learn much better by example. • Children play sport primarily for their own enjoyment, not for that of their parents. • Respect all participants and treat them courteously. This includes fellow spectators, coaches, staff and officials. • Accept without question the decisions of officials and coaches, even if they appear to make a mistake (these are usually volunteers who are doing an extremely difficult job). • Remember that persistent negative messages will adversely affect the players' and referee's performance and attitude. • Avoid use profane or aggressive language. • Do not physically or verbally harass players, managers, coaches, referees, officials or other spectators.
