Meet the 2016 Horizons Coordinators

Each year MSA sponsors Horizons for incoming students. Horizons is an orientation program designed to assist new multicultural students in their transition to UM. Horizons introduces new freshmen to our diverse community and provides them with an opportunity to meet and interact with new and returning students, faculty and administrators. This year, MSA is excited to introduce its new Horizons Coordinators!

Gabrielle Hand is a sophomore Finance and Marketing major from Fayetteville, GA. She serves as a member of the Pre-Black Law Student Association and Canes Care for Canes.

Amber Tavakoly is a freshman Psychology major from Miami, Florida. She is a work-study employee in MSA and serves as a member of the Hispanic Heritage Month Committee.

RSVP Today: Senior Mwambo 2015 Senior Mwambo is an African rite of passage ceremony that marks the transition of black graduates from their lives at the University of Miami to advanced education and professional careers. This year’s ceremony is scheduled for Thursday, May 5, 2016 at 2:00PM in Gusman Hall. For additional information regarding the Senior Mwambo or RSVP, visit www. miami.edu/msa/seniormwambo.

Campus Climate Survey You have likely heard about sexual violence on college campuses, and UM is not immune. To begin to assess the impact of gender-based and sexual violence in our community, UM is asking all students to complete a survey that asks about your knowledge, opinions and experiences on certain subjects, including relationships, partner violence, sexual assault and the UM experience. To take the survey, please click on the link below: miami.edu/ItsOnUs/survey
