BOTTLE CASING

BOTTLE CASING 2012 Jéssica Carvalho Silva The packaging for wine bottles was initially developed through experimentation, by testing the resistance of the paper when folded in different ways. It was made with a resistant and interesting design that can be easily reproduced in an industrial process. A duplex page, size A0 can be used to create two cases by simply folding the paper in the marked places and attaching the tabs. The design of the piece ensures that the bottle will not slip out through the bottom or the top.

THE HABITACLE

THE HABITACLE 2012 Camila Omiya Fabiana Imamura Guilherme Torres Jéssica Carvalho Silva Lucas Cortes

This simple structure made exclusively from paperboard and metallic tabs is the result of an exercise aimed at experimenting with the material attributes and with human scale. The objective of this exercise was building a small space that could house one or two people for a short time, a place to stay for a few minutes and observe the light effects on the paperboard walls. This cabin takes advantage of the effects of the light that leaks through the entrance and through a large opening at the top and rest in its internal walls, full of folds, drawing shapes of light and shadow.

CICLOPONTO

(CYCLEPOINT)

CICLOPONTO (CyclePoint) Finalist for the 27th Design Award of the Brazilian House Museum 2013 Camila Omiya Jéssica Silva Lucas Cortes Murillo Piazzi Prof Robinson Salata Modular temporary architecture The project’s aim is to supply three basic needs that users of the Sao Paulo Bike Way have: hydration, hygiene and rest. Since the Bike Way is only available at Sundays and holydays, a compact module is required for fast deployment and retrieval. Therefor, the module was developed from two volumes: one with the sanitary facility and the other with storage and drinking facilities. When separated, they create a third space that provides a shaded resting place.

Exemple of the installed module close to the bikeway at Avenida Paulista, in Sao Paulo

Functional model. This model contains all the structural elements of the real module and is also able to open and close and to activate or deactivate the bike racks and the seats mechanism. The coloured volumes represent the space occupied by each one of the CyclePoint’s functions.

The workshop was delivered within the scope of a discipline of the history department of the “Faculdade de Arquitetura e Urbanismo da Universidade de São Paulo” and taught by Professors Leandro Medrano and Luiz Recamán. The objective of the project was to revitalize and implement low income housing in a degraded area located in the region of “Viaduto do Glicério” near the center of Sao Paulo. To achieve these goals the project proposes two big pieces of cultural and educational equipments, that will attract activity to their location, related to reconfiguring the “Viaduto do Glicério” as an open space for leisure activities. The housing project will be associated with commercial and institutional activities held in the blocks surrounding the “Viaduto do Glicério”. The workshop did not offer a complete and finished project, but only a first attempt to solve the problem.

“Instant models”, fast produced models was the first exercise proposed by the teachers to ignite the creative work of the students teams, no drawings allowed

SYNAGOGUE

PROJECTING A SYNAGOGUE 2013 Bruna Dallaverde Giulia Mutton Jéssica Carvalho Silva Marcela Granda Vanessa Balbino Pereira Prof Renato Cymbalista

City, space and religion. The objective of this class was to discuss how different religions, their architecture and religious spaces were present in the city, and the impact they had. Each team had to design a religious space in the city of Sao Paulo for each one of the discussed religions. The synagogue project was the result of research about the religion, its customs, history and rituals. Our greatest effort went towards ensuring that the synagogue we designed fulfilled the requirements of the Jewish community in the best possible way.

ABOUT ME Through elementary, middle and high school, I had the opportunity of studying in institutions that valued the arts in all its forms and allowed me to experience some of them. Thanks to that I was able to experienced dance, theater, circus, music, plastic arts and photography. I was especially attracted to drawing. Since then, I have been trying to develop my drawing skills and in the process I discovered architecture and its drawings which are present and influential in everyone’s life.
