Dunlap Codding 609 W Sheridan Ave Oklahoma City, OK 73102 To the Dunlap Codding team, I write to Dunlap Codding regarding an exciting underwriting opportunity at Artspace at Untitled, a contemporary art center in Oklahoma City. As a leading firm in Oklahoma City, Dunlap Codding understands the importance of community, and it takes a dynamic community to improve arts education in our city. We are reaching out to you to request your support of the purchase of 15 iPads for underserved high school students in our Mentorship Program. Since 2011, the Mentorship Program at Artspace has invited local, underserved high school students to our professional print studio to learn, create, and explore art in its many forms. Growing from four schools to ten in 2018, this program serves students and in-school teachers with an interdisciplinary art curriculum for three years, connecting our local schools to a vast community of artists and resources. For three years of their high school careers, 120 Mentorship students work with professional artists in our studio. Once a month from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., each school group of 12 students spends time learning new techniques in printmaking and a variety of mediums with our education director and a small group of outside mentors. The Mentorship Program is highly interdisciplinary thanks to our mentors – local artists who serve as teachers to our students. Many mentors bring a technological perspective to art practices, as students in past years have created stop-motion animation and gifs on iPads. While this digital approach to art is incredibly important to the Mentorship Program’s success, our limited resources have required us to borrow iPads for students. This borrowing process requires much time and effort that instead should be expended during valuable class time. Not all students will pursue a traditional university education, and we seek to incorporate more technology to help students develop trade-based skills and specialized knowledge. Owning iPads and the corresponding software to create digital art would greatly diversify our curriculum, while bringing more artists to teach students different mediums. If this sounds like a partnership pertinent to Dunlap Codding, I would be happy to speak with you further about this opportunity. Further, I would like to invite Dunlap Codding to visit Artspace, so that your team can witness the impact of the Mentorship Program on our students.
