Meet the students!

Local high school students are experiencing a remarkable week of creativity & collaboration at Artspace at Untitled's Mentorship Summer Project! We'll be introducing various students throughout the week. Meet our first young artist:
Q: What project are you working on this week, and what is your role on the team? A: My team is showing the beginning, middle and end of humans, plants and animals made from different materials like foil, metal and foam. For plants, we start with a bud, the middle is a full bloom, and the end is a withered plant. Humans are a little more difficult to create, so we haven't decided what materials to use. It's still a work in progress!
Q: How has working on a team this week influenced or changed the way you work as an artist? A: Working on a team has honestly been so much better than working on art alone. We have a lot of minds guiding us, like sculptors, painters and other artists that are teaching us to think differently. For example, Alexa [Artspace Education Director] suggested we use pool noodles to create flowers! Who would've thought of that?
Q: What does this experience mean to you? How has it changed your relationship to art? A: Before I got involved in the program, I kind of had a very personal relationship to art that I'd never shared with anyone before. I never realized how big the art community is, and working in this program has given me a new community to share ideas with and discuss art. I enjoy art now more that I see it as a shared thing between people.
